So very sorry for you, Brandi, and everyone out there grieving the loss of a dear family member.  Just because they're furry doesn't mean they're "less than" or not as valued and loved.  Wishing you peace.

You put this perfectly!!!! Thank you Annie!

I'm sorry to hear your precious doggo passed. She was a beauty. It is so hard losing a pet, they are our family. I hope your boys are able to adjust well.

I can't begin to tell you how I know that pain. I feel so badly for you all, and suddenly is horrible!!! Did she get sick? Omg, I lost five of our six last year, they were all 13-14 years old, so while I had hoped it wouldn't happen like it did, it did . Please grieve, it's necessary and Liberty earned it. Hugs to you all.
Twisted Stomach/GDV. The vet also saw a possible growth in her spleen, so they couldn't say for sure what came first, the spleen issue or the stomach issue. From what I understand, the stomach torsion can escalate incredibly fast and it's very difficult to catch that something is VERY wrong until it's too late. It occurred overnight too, which didn't help. I tried rushing her to a 24 hour vet when we woke up and saw just how bad off she was, but she passed in my car on the way. It was/is incredibly traumatic for me & I'm hoping talking about it and remembering her will help me move forward. I made a shadow box of some of her things today and the little bit of crafty therapy was good for the soul.

Absolutely. Our girl was very much loved by not only our household, but our parents/siblings as well. She loved her grandparents and even had several fur cousins she loved to play with. We are fortunate to have a wonderful support system who is grieving right along with us.

Hugs and warm thoughts. We lost our last fur baby on Saturday. Roxy was 15 and very much loved. These fur babies find a way into our homes and hearts and it is so hard when they are no longer with us. She was a beautiful; Pup!!

So sorry for your loss as well! It certainly leaves an emptiness and quiet feeling I wasn't prepared for.

Oh Brandi, that is so sad.  I'm so very sorry for your loss.  I didn't think we could ever replace the loss of our first dog and was hesitant to get another one, until a friend said a lab puppy needed a home.  I said I'd go see him.  I cried when visiting and he came home with me.  He was a marvelous family member for 11 years until we lost him.  There is healing for your heart on the horizon.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! My oldest is 5.5 and he's already asking about when we can have a new dog so he can help name her. My husband has already expressed wanting to talk about a timeline on how long we should wait, so it's good to hear stories about everyone who's fallen in love again after they lost their first fur baby.

So many, many, many ((hugs)) Brandi. My heart breaks for you and your family. I know that pain all too well. Our Cider got cancer when he was only 6 years old and we lost him about 5 months later a month after he turned 7. Our Boomer lived a long life and we lost him at 13, just a few months before his 14th birthday. Losing them is a hard pain that leaves a hole in your heart. It hurts when we lose them to their too short life span, and it is devastating when they leave us suddenly and way too soon. Our time with them is never long enough. Your precious baby was beautiful and will always be in your heart. ((Hugs))
Thank you so much for your kind words! it truly is an emptiness here. she was always my snuggle buddy on tough days, she was by my side through my first pregnancy while Rob was away for work for nearly 6 months. it's hard to cope with the sadness when your go-to comfort is gone :(

God bless!! I'm hoping it's better for you as time passes but sometimes there isn't enough time to make things ok. I get it . Scully, my dachshund that's all over my gallery died in my arms after we reached the vets office at 1 am. She was outside with me for the eclipse, this was the one in 2017. She had heart issues, but I never thought she'd go that fast.

If it's any consolation, God took her peacefully for you. My SIL literally forced her dog to live. You'd see heart breaking pictures of her lying like a rag doll in their yard, house, etc., because she couldn't let go. That's harder to watch. I'm glad they were 3000 miles away.

I'll pray that you have peace with losing her, you won't ever forget her. I'm still missing Scully daily. And as you know we lost many more this past year. Hugs and prayers.

so sorry for your loss. Our furkids just don't live long enough! I know it's tough on the little ones. When my Rudy passed at 18 last spring, my grandkids who don't even live near us (but visit often) were heartbroken. They got a lot of comfort creating scrapbook pages with pictures of Rudy with them. And when I was ready, I did the same. Liberty will be waiting for "her boys" at the rainbow bridge.

My niece (almost 8) and nephew (10.5) were devastated. Scarlett, especially. She's an animal lover & would always ask us about Liberty every time we got together. She wrote us the sweetest condolences card on Sunday and decorated it with some of the scrappy goodies I've given her. She's my little papercrafting protege too, so so sweet.
