I am looking to buy a floor lamp for my craft room as I need more light. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need something that will spread the light not localize it, if that makes any sense. Thank you for any help in advance!

I struggle with this, too. I have a desk lamp/Ottlite. But, it casts weird shadows at certain times of day. Interested to see what everyone recommends!

Yes I have one of those too, it's just not enough. I'm in the front room of our house and there are no lights overhead where my desk is. So I need a good lamp that is tall to maybe reach over the desk?!

I do have a tall lamp in the corner of my room. I rarely use it!
And this is my first Ott light, it sits on one side of my desk, about 2 foot from my computer and overlooking my table. It is a nice strong and clear light.
A few years ago my girlfriend got me this little Ott light and it is DA BOMB!
It is so lightweight, has 4 light settings , folds down (I take it away with me to crops!)
and those two little pockets to keep supplies in it the icing on the cake!! This one sits
on the opposite side of my computer.
I am lucky to have the sun come up in one window and down in my other window.
Don't be jelly because these past few days I have been sweating my butt off even
with the fan blowing directly on me! If I had shades in here, I would probably scrap
au natural

@beachlover….time to get some shades! LOL. They have some that let light in. But I don’t know if you can see silhouettes.

My room is on the north side of our house and I am always looking for more light.
I have a light I got years ago on my desk that came from IKEA. And I also have a standing Verilux lamp that I have had for eons. I recently got a STELLA lamp as a Christmas gift for when I do cross stitch in the evening. It is wonderful. It has a charging base so one can move it all over the house. It is kind of pricey though.

I'm of no help.... I have an Ott-lite, which I love but at certain times of the day, it does create some weird shadows. I have one window in my scrapbook room and it lets light in most of the day. DH changed out the light kit on the ceiling fan in my scrappy room and that seems to have made all the difference.

I vote for Ottlights all the way! (Especially now that I have cataracts.)

Try a tall, angled floor lamp with a soft, wide beam

Try an LED floor lamp with adjustable brightness!

I have an OLD goose neck Ott lite that has seen better days. I'm gonna follow this for recommendations myself!

I have a few floor lamps that I got at Home Depot. They are really old from our prior house where they were in the living room. I can’t use the Ott-lights since the few I have bought in the past all have a high pitch sound when on. It’s really annoying.

I'm ALSO bookmarking this for future reference!
I use my sun lamp for most of the day, along with my regular overhead ceiling fan lights. (I work in the living room, and we also have natural light from the windows.)

I am of no help as I just make BF put in recessed lights all over. I used to use an Ottlight and loved it. I am now wondering what happened to it.... hmmmm

Just get a lamp with LED bulbs. Very bright, illuminating and the light really spreads out.
