I don't know if this post belongs here, but i need your suggestions. If the thread needs to be moved, please do and I apologize for my mistake.
I've spent hundreds on Dysons and Mieles in the past and been really disappointed with them. We have mostly hard floors and I just want a reasonably-priced vacuum cleaner that does a great job. Is there such a thing . . . ?
Oh - we have two massive hairy cats if that makes a difference!

I don't know the answer to that. We installed a whole house vacuum system about 7 or 8 years ago and it has been the best investment. No doggy smell in the air, no bags to empty (it all goes to one big canister that needs emptied about every 3-4 months), and no heavy sweeper to carry, just the hose and attachments to plug into the wall. Before that, we went through several sweepers, as well. Pets really do a number on them!
