WELCOME I AM YOUR Saturday HOSTESS FOR THE 30/30 CHALLEGE
At work we have monthly Health and Wellness info sent and I just read the January one. It was so good I wanted to share...
"If you make “SMART” goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely) you will be able to measure your progress inorder to keep you motivated to continue. Here are a few examples of how to positively alter your thinking for success: Make gratitude your attitude. Start each day by acknowledging three things for which you are grateful. If you start from a placewhere you have peace, you will be excited to embrace the day with the goal of making it even better. A short guided meditation orrepeating a positive affirmation is also a great way to start your day on the road to positivity.Motivate. Ask yourself WHY you want to reach your goal. Find the intrinsic motivation to muster up the excitement to make thishappen for yourself. You deserve to reach your personal best.Visualize. Envision yourself achieving your goals and basking in the benefits of the results. Picture yourself putting on those jeanswith ease or approaching that heavy barbell with confidence. Maybe keep a visual reminder on hand at all times. Some people, forexample, keep that pair of jeans by their fridge. Plan. Fail to prepare and prepare to fail. Schedule each day in advance, so that time for fitness and healthful eating is nonnegotiable.Take some time out on Sunday to prepare your meals for the week. Take the guesswork out of it. Avoid decision fatigue, which takes a nasty toll on your willpower. I recently found a great tool on http://www.eatingwell.com. Look up their weight loss meal planideas.Silence the noise. Surround yourself with positive people who support you, and remove yourself from the negative noise that doesn’tfoster a favorable environment, both in person and online. Un-follow “Negative Nancy’s” on Facebook and follow inspiring userson Instagram.Enjoy the process. It is great to have goals, but it’s even better to recognize where you are now and the exciting adventure that liesahead of you. And I don’t mean later on this year once you reach your goals—I mean right now. Today. Each meal, each moment isan opportunity to make on-goal choices. With every positive choice, you help build that “resistance muscle.” Be proud of every bit ofprogress toward your goal."
Why am I sharing? Well, I wanted to implement SMART for today's challenge! Let's see if you get anything out of what you just read. What S.M.A.R.T. idea will you implement or decide to try for the new year?
Completely open to your interpretation, so don't overthink it! Maybe you want to get more organized this year (if it's scrappy, complete a LO that has been on your des unfinished, do a sketch you pinned)... Whatever it is, journal or scrap it! Do what makes you feel accomplished today!!! And have fun!!! Open to cards, LO's!! BUT HAVE FUN!!!

Thank you for sharing. This is the type of thinking that I've been doing lately but the acronym "SMART" has added a whole new dimension for me. It's a simple word with a clear meaning that I can grasp for the life I want to live. Like the steps of AA or another specific lifestyle program, it can be applied to any promatic area of one's life.
I'm currently developing a healthier eating program and scrap-wise I'm using up tons of stash to declutter. I had just been trying to organize all my stash but it was so overwhelming because of the amount that I had. I'm now being SMART about how I'll do this task and plan a reopening of my scrap room by summer. YES things are that bad!

Love this! I am trying to cook and eat healthier (although I just finished assembling chili in the crockpot - BUT it's homemade with lower fat ground beef instead of full fat). and organizing. I am overwhelmed with stuff in my scraproom and I'm putting myself on a spending freeze (at least until CHA....LOL!). I'm going to make DH and me homemade waffles which may not be the healthiest thing to eat but I know what is going into them and we use real maple syrup which is better than that "pancake syrup". After breakfast (which now has become brunch), I'm heading into my scrap room and finish up a layout I started earlier in the week. Be back in a few - start warm everyone.
Thank you for this challenge. I have a few more pages that I started back in November that haven't been finished yet. Before last month, I had only posted LOs from Jan, Feb and then again not til Nov. Then went an entire month before I finally found my mojo. I did scrap in April at a retreat, but when I got home I never unpacked any thing. So I was all packed and ready to go when the Nov retreat came. This is so not like me. Not only did I need to unpack, but I also needed to organize my scrappy room. Now that that's all done, I needed to get all my photos organized and off from my phone. I finally got that done, and now I need to spend time organizing LOs and putting them in to albums. I am finding pictures from 2014 that have yet to be scrapped. Then I need to figure out were I am in printing my photos. I think this goes back to June of 2016 So I have a lot of organizing work to do yet, but I have gotten a good start on it.
This is one of the LOs I started back in Nov. It is one showcasing the crib and dresser that DH made for our grandson Orahn. We delivered it on Wednesday figuring we had another week before Orahn's arrival. Little did we know, Orahn would come 3 days later. Talk about a close call.

Mildred - Mom to 2 girls and a husband (I tell people that I am a single mom of 3. Ages 59, 37 and 31) lol. And a proud Grandma to Orahn (7) Sawyer (5) and Mazie (3).
For some reason, I keep buying stamps that I love, even though I rarely use any of them. So my challenge for myself is to buy no more stamps, and use the ones I have every single week on a project. So for today, I am going to make a layout that uses stamps that I haven't even opened yet! Thanks for the push!

This is the layout for Sketch with a Twist that I started earlier in the week. Thanks for the push to finish it. Now off to start another layout.
Here's mine for Day #6. Something I'm working on is 'me'.
Journaling says, "It's time to 'refocus' on me and get my life back in order with working out and being more active regularly. Also to concentrate on eating healthier and drinking less. I also need to work on worrying less and let those things go that I have no control over. I need to work on happier things and find joy in each day. I just need to get my life in balance so I can be a happier me.
I combined the Holiday and Patterned Paper Challenges.
Photo of me that granddaughter Lucy took of me this Summer just enjoying a relaxing cup of hot tea.

Oh thanks for the push. I had this layout half done for about six months. I finally finished it today and can add it to the Jan pet challenge too.
I love the encouraging words of wisdom !!! Too great!! I appreciate that you shared them with us!!
I am really trying to actually DO my DD this year! I always make notes and keep up with days and what is going on, but the past few years I have done very little actually getting those notes/photos into my dd.
So I am working on that- that will also hopefully make a dent in my stash! I have been organizing all my winter and Christmas supplies.... i really need to use up a bunch of these! So here is my day 6!!

Here's mine:
in the spirit of "SMART", I had been struggling with these photos for a while, no pp that I have seemed to work with them. Then I decided to go for a simpler approach which is this Kraft Core cardstock that I've had for years.

Every year I print out a bunch of Christmas photos and then because the Holiday is over they wind up in a pile of photos to scrap later. This year I wanted to change that habit. This is the last of my Christmas related photos for THIS year and I feel good about this accomplishment.

Here's mine - I am FINALLY using this adorable reindeer stamp - I've wanted to use it for years but couldn't figure out with what pictures. Then I saw my niece in these jammies. Perfect. The SMART was that I used something I was having trouble using.

I bought a Disney mega kit (9 double pages) bundle last September from Scrapbook Generation. I had cut all the papers and put them in page protectors last fall. My thought was I would have pictures already printed and it was just a matter of matching the kit to pictures. Well, here it is January and I finally got one of the layouts done.
Okay, so like I said in an earlier post here, I want to use the tons of stamps that I keep buying but never use on my pages and cards. So here is a page I made, using Scribbly Christmas stamp set by Tim Holtz. I used all eight trees, which I embossed with Versamark ink and Fern green powder. Then I used two of the word stamps, O' Christmas Tree, in two different fonts, which I stamped with red embossing powder. I really like how this turned out! Thanks for the push!
Combined with the Jan. Stamping challenge, of course!
