Today is an emotional day. Today would have been Ruby and Bear's 12th birthday. Its Bear's 2nd birthday up on Rainbow Bridge, and Ruby Mae's 1st birthday. I know they are celebrating and having a blast in the pool, eating "big girl cookies" and Frosty Paws. I know they've found their cherry friends as well as other doggie friends that were a part of their lives, including Kandie and Lady Lou. I think its extra difficult with Ruby Mae passing away exactly 3 months ago today.
I remember when my parents brought them home from my grandparents' farm. They were so little and fluffy:
Like labs do, they grew up really fast.
Being water babies, they could spend HOURS in their kiddie pool:
As they got older, their bond grew stronger. I remember this day like it was yesterday. Bear had been diagnosed with severe arthritis and had been at the vet ALL day. She made it back home in time for the 4pm "big girl cookie"
My favorite picture of them though..in the new house...which Bear only got to enjoy for a few short months...was when I found BOTH of them under the rubber tree. Look how happy they were.
It sure is quiet over here. Jackson is now 8 months and becoming a little man....he doesn't need to be constantly held anymore. Penny and Jeffrey are still very independent. They sleep, play, eat, and do it all over again. Day in and day out. Ruby and Bear though...those girls were my little (big) sidekicks. Always had one or both at my feet. I could be doing something boring like folding laundry or cleaning the bathroom..and I'd have at least one watching me.
DH and I have discussed it a bit. He's been hinting "puppies" for a while. We were planning on doing that last summer..but then things got complicated. Jackson appeared. Ruby broke her leg and was diagnosed with bone cancer. Ruby's passing. DH's gpa passed away. Holidays and Travel. Work has picked up tremendously for the both of us. We both know it wouldn't be fair with new puppies.....so...we're planning around August. DH will be traveling back to New Mexico in late July for business, followed by another trip out to California. So by mid-August, he'll be back home and things should be slowing down for us. We're planning on heading over to our local Humane Society together and we'll see what happens...... If its meant to be...it'll be....
Many many hugs!! I totally understand how you feel~ They are such beautiful girls and look how sweet and cute they were !!!

What a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to two beautiful fur babies. They were so loved, I understand your sadness.
I do admit I am exicted to hear news of maybe some new family members in the near future! How lucky they will be!

Big hugs to you sweetie! Thank you for sharing those adorable photos of your babies. As far as new puppies in your future - any doggie(s) would be fortunate to have you and DH as parents.
Thank you so much Chris. I really appreciate that comment. You know..Jackson has helped us with the ease of introducing a new "furbaby". I think Penny and Jeffrey would enjoy "puppies"emmapaige wrote:Big hugs to you sweetie! Thank you for sharing those adorable photos of your babies. Thank you, Brandy, for sharing these photos with us--I've felt like I've gotten to know all your furbabies as if in person through the years I've been on here. Breaks my heart that Bear and Ruby are gone, and send hugs and warm thoughts to you. You'll know when it's right for another puppy, and I'm sure you'll continue to bring furbabies into your welcoming and loving home. Many hugs to you!
