I'm sorry to let you know this
UPDATE 2/1/17 - It's with a heavy heart that I make this update. Once the swelling subsided in the brain, scans were done and the damage to his brain is to severe for recovery. The doctors indicated that at the very best, he may open his eyes, but his quality of life would be dismal. I have known since yesterday, but needed to let all the immediate family know. Amanda (wayne's girlfriend) and I just finished telling the kids. Telling the Marissa and Emily were difficult enough, but 5 yr old Trevor was the hardest. While Wayne is still here with us now, no final decision will be made until Saturday.
I'd like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the prayers. My heart is aching for Wayne's children,
1/30/17 Wayne Update. 1st, I just talked to the nurse at 10 pm. Today they took out the drainage tubes from his lungs. Not a huge deal, but one less tube is always better. 2nd he is doing some breathing on his own, but still requires the ventilator. A little bit bigger deal. He has not opened his eyes yet, and she said he hasn't responded when asked to move a toe or finger.
1/29/17 UPDATE: Wayne's condition hasn't had much of a change today. He is still unresponsive, but it has only been 48 hours since the incident. While we were visiting today, the pressure in his brain quickly increased to a 26, causing some alarm to the staff. The bag that collects any fluid was previously placed low, where gravity was doing some of the work to keep the pressure low. They thought he may have been doing well enough to raise the bag a bit and that his body would do the work to relieve the pressure. They lowered the bag again and his pressure numbers are now low again, ranging from a 3 -5. The MRI on his spine came back with no issues, so now they are allowed to put him in a more sitting up position, which will also help with the pressure.
Hoping that tomorrow will bring any kind of positive news, even if it's baby steps!
That is the last update from his brother. Thank you so very much for all of the prayers and good thoughts. Please keep praying ladies...
Girls, my best friend in high school's little brother (he's in his 40s - ouch!) owns a landscaping business. Today the HUGE truck - with front supports and a very long line basket - tipped over - and he has bleeding in his brain and his ribs are completely crushed on one side. Please, please if you can spare a prayer or good thoughts for Wayne Dillashaw, I would appreciate it so much!
