That ole ugly Cancer has raised it's head in my household. My dh was admitted NYears's Eve with anemia, feeling tired and bad for weeks and Wow, we had no idea his bloodwork was showing concerning signs. WBC's high, RBC's low and the type of immature cells showing, indicated he may have AML which is a type of leukemia. He was admitted, received 4 units of blood over the weekend and has totaled 7 today. Platelets given today too. Never expected anything like this!

He is feeling much better though. I thought he was looking quite pale for a while and now that his color is back, I can really see the difference. Chemo was started this week and he'll be there for about 3 weeks more. Don't know yet what comes after that. We will take it a step at a time and see. Ben did not want to ask or know too much....I do believe it's just sinking in now what is happening and I know he must've been scared to even ask details. Today he asked me more about what he had and I gave him a brief explanation to explain his treatment plan he's enduring. His spirits are up. He jokes with the nurses and I think that's his way of coping. He's always tried to tease them whenever he's in for anything. They are being so good to him. I've been please with his care.

I'm still working my 2 days a week. My daughter is down from TN to help me for a bit. At least in the hospital I know he's cared for. I'm not sure what we will need to do when he gets out as far as appointments, treatments, etc. If I need to take FMLA, I will. I received some extra nursing hours for my son ()most of you know, he has to have nursing to care for him at home) so that's a relief!

I am a Christian and do appreciate any prayers for Ben. Positive thoughts, good vibes...let them flow! Love you gals, miss not being so active and thought htis year was my year to get it going...and it will...but you know how it is.

I was thinking about you last night, I haven't seen you around.  Now I know why.  I m so sorry to hear about Ben.  He sounds like me.  I don't want to know too much about it, and I try to make funnies when I am nervous.
