Nevada.  Not really in love with living in a state that leaves me hiding indoors (or moving quickly from vehicle to destination and back) for a solid 4-5 months of the year due to being so fair skinned (I'm thankful I have mixed race babies in part because they won't have to fear the sun nearly as much as I will always have to and always have).  We had some major fires in the mountain a few years ago and the smoke was so intense it blocked the sun.  It was one of the first times I was about to go out and about in the summer and return to my car not being 9000 degrees.  It was nice...although the fire was not fun, the side effects were nice.  I miss Seattle, but I'm spoiled here.  I can drive all over town and not be commuting for more than an hour (hour and a half tops in really really bad traffic).  Usually 30 minutes is a long time unless I was commuting during traditional business hours for work.  It's a big city that is attached because it's a flat valley.  In Seattle, everything is very disjointed and cities next door can take a long time to travel to.

Home is in MN. I have been here since I was 10 (40 years ago ), but I was born in CA. You see, dad's job was getting ready to close. He saw a posting on the bulletin board for a job in MN in the same industry. Well dad thought it would be a good idea since he was born and raised in MN. So he packed up all up and moved to MN. Dad was pretty clever, he was still able to provide for his family of 6 and also get back to his roots. None of his other family members ever left MN. So here we are

Christy S. - the differences are - the cost of living - MUCH less...a two bedroom apartment here is slightly more than half of what it cost me in NJ.  The pace is a bit more relaxed. The people are a LOT more relaxed. Parking and traffic is MUCH lighter.  It's a tad warmer.  Spring comes a tad earlier and sumer ends a tad later.

Mildred - I nearly moved to MN about 22 years ago. I worked for Lakewood publications managing their NJ office. They closed the office when i left for my maternity leave. They were going to find me a new position out there but when my first son was born I realized that I wanted my kids to have grandparents as I never did so we ended up staying in NJ. I had been out to Minneapolis on a business trip when i first joined the company and thought it was beautiful - but it was in July. I don't know that I could handle those tough winters you have and that much snow and icy cold.

I live in Colorado but grew up in Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia.

I agree it is beautiful here. You definately can tell the 4 seasons apart from one another which is what I like. Yes the winter can be brutal, but your blood learns to thicken pretty quickly then it isn't so bad. As far as snow goes, the past couple years especially last year there was hardly any snow.
