Fall Challenge #1- September/October
Welcome to our first Fall Challenge! Wow...Did summer ever fly by!
This year I will be homeschooling both of my boys...In years past, I just had my oldest, Morgan, who is 14, home with me. But this year I decided to try both of them. Homeschooling for the past 7 years has given me a lot of respect for teachers everywhere, whether they teach as their career,or teach as parents.
So for our first fall challenge- Let's give a huge round of applause for ALL the teachers in our lives, and ALL the teaching they have done by filling our Fall Challenge gallery (which I will create as soon as I can) with teachers and teacher appreciation!
I would like everyone to be able to participate, and since this challenge runs for 2 months, I have FIVE options of what you can create for this challenge (and yes, you can do all four)
#1- Create a layout about you or your child's ( or your furbaby's) favorite teacher. College Professor? Yes, he counts. Needed to send one of your furbabies for some training? Yes, the trainer counts too.
#2- Create a layout about you (as a parent) teaching your child something ( tying their shoe, riding a bike,etc.)OR..Did someone in your life teach you a skill you really appreciate? ( crocheting, cooking, scrapbooking?) Create a layout about that.( The teacher does not need to be in the layout-for example, if your grandmother taught you to quilt- maybe a picture of your favorite project and some journaling about how much you appreciate the skill)
#3- Make a "thank you" card for a teacher with a school theme. Put it in your stash, you never know when a teacher will do something great for you!
#4- I know many who have kids have created little gifts for back to school...but you know Teacher Appreciation Week is just a few months away...and there are TONS of adorable ideas on Pinterest still to try. So let's get ahead for the spring by making a Teacher Appreciation gift ( Think how great it will be in April/May when Teacher Appreciation Week is suddenly upon you..and you open up your closet and find a beautiful, finished gift is there waiting for you!)
#5-If you or someone close to you is a teacher and you would like to make a tribute layout for/about them or a layout about your teaching experience-I think it is a great idea and will accept them for submission as well.
I chose to create a thank you card. Even though my boys are in cyber-school,we still have a lot of teacher support. We have a special education and autism support teacher, as well as occupational therapists, and each boy has 4 cyber teachers...you get the idea, I need lots of school-themed thank yous throughout the year!
Challenge Rules/Prizes-
I am going to enlist my 8-year old son, Logan,to draw 2 names from his trusty fedora for 2 prizes for this challenge-

Great challenge. I have 2 teachers in my family, and other ideas are floating. Thanks!

Great challenge and I love all the options. I have my thinking cap on!
I don't suppose you could add something in there for a layout about one's child as a teacher. DD teaches middle school Science. lol

Someone else sent me a PM asking about a similar project. I think this is a wonderful idea. I will accept layouts like that...and I editted my challenge to accept them. What a wonderful idea!
Love this challenge!

I used to be indecisive; now I'm not sure.

Fun challenge....teachers are saints in my book, for sure, and we can never show them enough appreciation!
I am running away from my responsibilities,
and it feels good!

So many possibilities with this one! My mind is having a field day since I've got a friend and a SIL who teach in public schools, both my kids had a favorite teacher in grade school that I haven't scrapped about, I already have something to give everyone for teacher's appreciation that I just need to personalize for the teachers, and I taught different things (mostly as a Girl Scout leader). Now to just decide if I can get any of these done this month (have pictures, etc.) Thanks so much for the challenge!

Libby's Favorite teacher is always the teacher she has at the moment. Mrs. D taught her for both 2nd and 3rd grades. She retired at the end of Libby's 3rd grade year. Libby still cries when she thinks about missing her.

I'd like to submit this for the challenge. I plan on making several more squares for spring and summer, that way she can change it for many different occasions.
For Option 4 - Game Day desk Calendar. A teacher gift for a favourite coach - who teaches important things like teamwork, spirit and pride, and fairplay.
