I was just thinking, trying to figure out how you might make these bags as cheaply as possible and still be pretty when I thought of glassine bags. Searched ACOT and found some lovely examples of gift bags from these. You would only need paper for tags perhaps. Cheaper than purchasing a 12x12 paper that would only make one, I'm thinking.
I'm sure it costs enough for the goodies to put in them and do wonder if they are kept or tossed in the trash. I'd rather them toss a glassine bag than one I handmade. Just a thought...here is one in the gallery I really like. You can click on the pic and it will take you to it and a few others on that page. I love what you are doing. You have a BIG heart but a small budget.

I agree with Debbie.  Keep it simple with your budget; then you can make and give more.  These tags are cute and can be made with stamps and a punch or two.  You could even stamp onto white lunch sacks to dress them up.  I'm sure the recipients would be happy and touched with any token, actually!

oh thank you that is quite cute I love the idea of glassine bags how would you make the tags all I have is exacting scissors with the different edgings I love those tags and bags.thank you.

You can use your scissors for those tags, either circles or squares/rectangles...just cut out shapes from you papers. These look layered. Many many options, play around with it till you get something you like. Keep it simple, add stamping, stickers, or just write or draw with a marker even. Oh and I do like the idea of those white lunch bags. I've not seen them in awhile but not looked either. Used to get a big bag of them cheaply. Perfect for this and cheaper than the glassine. Either way will work.

If you like making these tags, maybe soon you can invest in a nice round or square punch that will  punch you shape and it's done! Quick, easy and can do many tags quickly. Here's one that would be nice to have. scalloped circle...

Make 4 boxes from the one 12x12?   I keep a basket of my scraps for use on other layouts/projects - sometimes entire layouts made from scraps. I don't think I understand the question.

His may be a silly question but what is a scoring board or scorpal? Do I need one because I don't have one all the youtube videos use a scoring board to score paper for cardmaking etc.tia(i hope I don't sound too silly)

 

First welcome to the boards!  And how awesome of you to donate your time for those things that can mean so much to someone who is in need.

As for the scoring boards..they are nice but is it an absolute necessity it depends on how much scoring and folding you are going to do.  If the whole score board isn't in the budget at the moment..a bone folder can be used with a regular ruler.  I started with that when i began card making...then purchased a martha score board when i had a 50% off coupon for a craft store.

Hi and welcome to the boards! You can also score with just a ruler and a ballpoint pen that has completely run out of ink. You just have to be sure that there is no ink left and scribble on a piece of paper first to be sure there is no residue. Works like a charm for scoring.

Thank you its a measurement question really I thought the box was cute it calls for the lid to be a6x6 piece of cardstock or a 12x12 piece cut to size and I was wondering how you would cut down a 12x12 piece to 6x6.

Use a ruler and a cutter (exacto knife, paper cutter, scissors)?  Then you will have 4 6x6 pieces.

Hi everyone what a long last couple days my bday was yesterday the 19th of july.we have to be at the hospital for lumbar chemotherapy tomorrow at 7am we just went through mediport chemo on thursday for 6+hrs.please say a prayer that no spinal headaches occur.that is why the treatments where suspended for two because of a severe spinal headache.

Paper punches and the scor pal.i want to make boxes and bags for chemo patients but I don't have a scor pal or any paper punches.please help with some type of substitute or something also the bone folder is it necessary?
