Has anyone else noticed a drastic change in their productivity when their supply shopping increases? I hadn't shopped for much lately but after getting my ACOT order in a few weeks ago, it seems that I've suddenly started doing A LOT more shopping and all the effort to get it put away has drastically decreased my productivity. I hadn't done much shopping for months and I was on quite the uptick in making layouts and now that I'm shopping more, I'm not making nearly as much. I can't be the only one, can I?
i tend to be about even if im shopping much or not....does that make sense?? LOL new things encourage me to get layouts done...and wanting new things encourages me to get em done............my bigger issues can be time constraints or other outside factors that lower my productivity level
I can totally see how that would happen. I can't stock pile, so I only shop when I have the photos ready. By then, I'm pretty anxious to get working!
OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
Well I have to say that for the first 4 years of my scrapping hobby ALL I did was shop. I bought this and that with this or that photo in mind and I kept on collecting and never made one page! LOL I think I was a bit intimidated that what I made would be crappy. So from 2005 to 2009 I collected. I went to a ScrapPink retreat in Oct 2009 and I made my first layout and went from there. Now I do go in spurts of scrapping like crazy and not having the time or maybe the "mojo" to scrap. I have to have the flow to be able to make a page. I am not sure that shopping stops my scapping but when my inspiration lags of course I am looking at new supplies LOL

I can only focus on one thing or the other. Ha! So if I am scrapping, I'll do minimal shopping like get adhesive or something specific. And it seems while I am shopping a lot I don't scrap too much because I'll be waiting for orders to arrive and need that something which is arriving next week. But that can go in for weeks.

I'm exactly that way. The more I shop the less I scrap. If I feel like I don't have time to scrap then I shop instead. I need to be doing one or the other in order to get my scrapping fix.

For me the more I shop the more I scrap. I guess I feel a little guilty buying the supplies and not using them. When I have been on a shopping binge I will do a lot of layouts. My hubby says that is when he knows I have spent to much money and need to use up some of my supplies. I am not shopping now except for adhesive cause I am saving for two trips this year. One in August and the other in November. I am still scrapping!
I'm like Janet, the more I shop the more I scrap.
Yet my definition of shopping and scrapping may be just a little different. Searching for Cherries and popping something in the basket does not equate an upcoming purchase. Just the act of visually seeing a paper or embellishment can get the idea for a layout. So yes....shopping equates more layouts or projects.
I'm not a paper person, I am a embellishment person. Last year I purchased a huge amount of paper and now feel totally overwhelmed with the stuff. So far this year I've two lines BG Highline (not entire collection) and Bo Bunny Somewhere In Time (entire collection). And most of you probably have two to four times the amount of paper I have.

Maybe I need to clarify my shopping habits cause my post didn't make much sense. I do not go shopping physically for anything. If I need a pair of jeans I get them and leave. Only Wranglers, male Wranglers, fit this long true 34 inch inseam gal. I own zero women's slacks because of my inseam. I do exactly the same for dress, skirts, makeup, etc. I can't spend and hour gazing through racks of clothing.....drives me nuts. I see it as time totally wasted. When I spent 1.5 hours searching for a new outfit last fall, either causal cocktail dress or skirt and top, it drove me bonkers! I haven't needed another since then. I just don't go to enough places requiring something other then my jeans and blouse or nice sweater. Don't ask me to go shopping with you....I hate spending hours wasting my time. Lynn asks me all the time...no I don't want to go!!! Please!!!
Now shopping at an LSS....I could easily spend an hour or hour and half in there maybe two devouring the store. But I still may have a very small purchase. But no LSS close to either home and time is always equated to money in my head. So I spend hours looking at such sweet goodies on ACOT!!! Three hours would be the same for me to drive to and from either home to the LSS and instead of gas money, money on wear and tear on vehicle I spend time on internet and shop everything this hobby of mine has for me to drool over right here!
LOL....I keep thinking I know this store inside and out and then I find something that makes me go OMG!!!
Thank you ACOT!

I'm the same way right now I really would like to scrap but have to clean up the mess on my table from the last two orders before I can scrap
I've been doing a lot less shopping and more scrapbooking and using my stash.
Thank goodness. I thought I was the only one who shopped and shopped and didn't scrap. Finally I got my Workbox and filled it up and I've been scrapping ever since - whether I shop or not.suewho372 wrote:Well I have to say that for the first 4 years of my scrapping hobby ALL I did was shop. I'm really bad about spending time shopping because I tend to shop when I don't feel well enough to scrap. Which happens a fair amount, unfortunately. I don't always buy, though, as much as I shop...I just like looking at what's available. Since it's hard for me to do much shopping outside the house, I kind of look at it as time I would have spent looking around the craft stores and things, so it's not too different than window shopping like most people do. My mom is a world class shopping queen. I suppose I wouldn't make her proud if I didn't do *some* shopping around.
