I actually have been having tons of fun with the 6x8 and have been debating about trying to a 4x4 instagram book. I love 12x12 but it has the overwhelming aspect to it. I can usually fly through a 6x8 or 8x8. I love all the new sizes! Tons of fun!
Same here.love2stamp wrote:12x12, I have to many photos that I usually want to put on a page to do any smaller.

I start at 8 1/2 x 11 and went to 12 x12. Now I am regretting doing 12 x12 they are so big and heavy!!! (I like to put one year in an album.
I am now using SMASH journals and loving them!!!
(was actually debating if I wanted to go back and redo my 12 x12 into the smaller size. I just don't have the space for the bigger ones!

I do all my albums 12 x 12 using a 3-ring binder, but I do use 8 x 8 for gift albums.

I use 12x12 for my pages but I do have an albums worth of 8.5x11 pages from a few years ago.
It's so weird that 6x6 albums are hard to come by when 6x6 pads are so popular these days. But 8x8 is a GREAT size for gift albums...there's room for the picture plus the title and some embellishing. The only draw back is that you need to cut into a 12x12 paper for the each page for the background but it's not too too bad if you use patterned paper because the leftovers can be used on other pages which increases cohesiveness.
I do 12x12. I like to have the space for a lot of photos. I have a 81/2 x 11 album, but only did one page in it; it seems to work better when you only have one photo. I've done 8x8 for gifts too and am now doing the small size 6x8 for a project life type album.
I mainly do 12x12, but I like to dabble around with other things. I made some 6x6 tag albums, 8x8 albums on a stand, and 5x7 baby books. I LOVE making my own little books as gifts. I like to use shaped chipboard albums too. I guess I'm an anything goes kind of scrapper.
Thanks!

I did the same as you starting with the 8.5 x11. Did a few of those and found out they were too small for me.Shutterbug wrote:What album size do you like to use? I started with 8.5 x 11 and then went to 12 x 12.
When I started to scrapbook about two years ago in 2012. I started with a 12x12. I never changed my album size. I might put a 8.5x11 page protector in my 12x12 album. Because I like to mix up my page protector sizes everyone in a while. But like the 12x12 because you can add more pictures or embellishment to the layout if you wish. I like to have the choice to decided more pictures or a few embellishment.
I almost always do 12x12 but I do have one 8.5x11 book. I tend to do my pet books in 8x8, not sure why.
I also liked the 6x6 ones for gifts - bummer they went away. Those 4x4s are cute though!

I did use 8x8 for a recipe scrapbook a few years ago. I got recipes from family members, rounded up some pictures and went to work. Did it all digitally. It turned out good. I made enough copies for the closer family. For friends, I printed off their page and gave it to them. I also told whatever information I had about the picture and the recipe. It was well received by all. I made a kids page and the 2 granddaughters put their favorite little recipes there. When I look back at the book, memories come floating out..

I have noted that there are more and more 6 x6 paper pads too.christinec68 wrote:Charleneanne wrote:12x12 for myself. I used to give 6x6 for gifts but they seem to have discontinued that size so guess now I will have to do 8x8's for gifts or stop giving gift albums.

I did the same thing when most of the papers started coming in 12x12. I am making a couple of 8x8 albums for my grandsons now and having fun with those. I have to agree though, a full 12x12 album is heavy and hard to store.

I started out with 8.5x11 but now I do 12x12 in addition. I also like the 8x8. I tend to just go with whatever I think will work best for the project I have in hand. I let go of "rules" a few years ago with my scrapbooking and found that I enjoy it even more since.
I work with 12x12 pages except for the 8x11 Pictures with Santa album.
Happy Scrapping!
