Anybody else?
slightly annoyed to log on and have 15 notifications from the same person posting the same generic comment on their layouts?  I know this is why ACOT didn't use to give points for gallery comments.  Don't get me wrong...I love comments as much as the next gal, but when they are clearly just for getting points, it is sort of pointless.  KWIM?!

Re: Anybody else?
Is it the same comment on the same layout?  I would think they are having trouble with their internet connection.  If it's slow and they keep hitting "submit" they'll put the same comment on one layout lots of times.

But if it's the same comment on different layouts, I know what you mean.  The other day, I got the same "so cute" or whatever on three in a row, and was about to say something (or wanted to) if that was on the fourth, but that person changed it up a bit.  I feel your pain, lol!  I always try to say what I like about the layout specifically.  But I haven't been in the gallery much lately . . .

Brandon fixed the multiple comment thing.  I asked him to delete them because it was annoying seeing them there on a layout of mine (there were like 30 of the same comment) and I asked him at the same time about a delete button so we could correct it ourselves if we noticed that we had done it.  He made it so duplicate comments were no longer possible and I haven't seen it since.

Re: Anybody else?
It bothers me, too.  I have a hard time coming up with reasons why I like something so I don't always leave love because of it.  It's so hard not to just say 'wow', 'stunning', 'beautiful' over and over and actually say something non generic.  Sometimes I'll look at a layout that I love but not actually have a clue how to express why I like it, that I just do.  I've remedied this some by trying to find a favorite element or two that seemed original, particularly eye catching, labor intensive, or drew me in to begin with rather than a generic comment about the entire layout because if I leave a comment, I really liked the project.

Re: Anybody else?
I'm not talking about someone commenting similarly on more than one layout.  I'm talking 15 comments in a 5 minute time frame on separate layouts, which have been posted over a couple months....it is ridiculous grubbing for points.  That is all.  This person is not even trying to look at the layouts and thoughtfully comment. :(

Oh, yeah.  I forgot about that.  So, that's not the problem . . .

There is someone who I noticed (she is on the boards here and there) doing that to ALL of the Bazzill cardstock.  I used to go through looking for cherries a manufacturer at a time and there was a comment on literally everything and it was just generic comments based on how the cardstock looked on the screen.  I usually roll my eyes when I see a generic comment but I would definitely be irritated if it was repeated by the same person in my whole gallery.  I'm sorry. :(

Re: Anybody else?
I don't mind generic comments in the gallery so much because, I admit, I'm guilty of sometimes writing a quick, generic comment on a layout that catches my eye. I'm not an expert in color and design so, really, there's only so much I can say about a layout. If I write "beautiful photo, love the papers!" I'm not doing it to stock up on points, I'm being dead honest. I really do think the photo is beautiful and I really do love the papers … and will probably add them to my basket once I'm done commenting Image

The product reviews *do* bother me though. I've noticed the Bazzill comments as well, and I've also noticed that sometimes people link products to their layouts that aren't there. For example, if they use one little sticker from Amy Tangerine they'll link up a whole bunch of Amy Tangerine stuff even if it's not anywhere to be seen on their project. As someone who reads the product reviews and checks the photos that supposedly use the products before I make a purchase this drives me nuts! I'm glad ACOT has a "verified purchase" next to reviews … most of the time, those are the only ones I'll read.

I'm betting you aren't writing "beautiful paper, love the photos" on 15 layouts in a row...from 2 months worth of layouts in a 5-minute time span from the same person's gallery, though. ;)  It's just annoying and is definitely only for the points!

Shoot - I should have thought of this to get more points!!!! LOLImageImageImageImage Just Kidding!  Yes, that would bother me, too.  I generally don't post a comment if I feel it's way too generic.  Sometimes I do just because  I love the layout and I want the owner to know it.  Hope they don't do that anymore.

Re: Anybody else?
yes, it is very irritating and i wish they would stop! I always make a point to say something about something I specifically like about a page - the color scheme, the design, the corner banner cluster, the sprinkles, the clustering, the distressing - there is SOMETHING about that page that I like, that makes it noteworthy to stand out, so I'm gonna comment on it. I like getting these comments from others too because it shows me they took the time to look at my layout and they loved some little detail about the page - and sometimes it's actually some technique or something that I really didn't care for but I just went with it anyways, and that actually gets the most comments. it's all about good feedback!

So yeah, it's irritating, but the good news is, a week or so after crops those people tend to go away...

I agree...it's really easy to find something nice, quick and unique to say about every layout without making it look like the comment has been cut & paste.  Although, admittedly, I shouldn't even comment here because I haven't spent much time in the gallery at all lately.

I almost wish there was a 'like', 'love', 'favorite' button system on the gallery for those times we want to show love but don't really know WHAT to say without sounding cheesy or redundant.

That would be a great idea! :)  I think the mass poster has finally gotten off my gallery...I didn't have any more notifications today, but last night there were about 50 of them and they alternated between, "Lovely layout," "Perfectly lovely," and "Love this."  Don't get me wrong...I don't mind getting those comments here and there from anybody.  Sometimes, sweet and simple says what you want.  It was the fact that she was going to every layout in my gallery in a row and only posting these three comments...took her all of about a half hour I think.  I don't even think she was looking at the layouts much. Re: Anybody else?
I know what you mean! Especially this week I've been getting the same comment on 15 or more different layouts everyday. Sometimes I just look at my other 'notifications' and clear those ones without looking at them. Annoying, but I really hope ACOT doesn't stop giving points for leaving love in the gallery because of that. One person can ruin things for the rest of us leaving thoughtful comments.

Re: Anybody else?
Wow tough crowd. To me I think it's nice to get comments since I lack in that department. I leave comments about once a week because I'm lazy. I know I should do it more.

I don't want to be too quick to judge without talking with that cherry who left the comments. I wouldn't want to come to any conclusions that may hurt their feelings. Maybe they don't know what to say. I usually say "awesome layout" or "love it". Maybe they really like your layout and she is scrolling through your layouts to get inspiration.

I was shopping and looking through the gallery for a year before joining the message board. I would look at the awesome layouts and then buy the paper the cherry used. Maybe it is very innocent and not what you think.

Thank you Lori for posting. I was trying to think of the right words to post myself. I feel the same way you do.  Not everyone posts love in the gallery just for points. This comment has come up before and has always bothered me. I guess it is one of my many reasons as to why I don't post in the gallery anymore. I feel that I would be "judged" on how I comment. While I do try to pick my words carefully, I still get a bit nervous on what I typed and how it was preceived.

Re: Anybody else?
Oh don't stop posting in the gallery Mildred, I love your comments. I think people should address this with ACOT for putting gallery notifications up. In the past we didn't even know what people left for comments unless we went back to the layout. I think people wouldn't be so mad if they didn't see the notifications every day.

Re: Anybody else?
Laura is not complaining about the wording of the comments and she most certainly is not saying she's not grateful for comment on her work.  She's simply pointing out that when someone posts the exact same words -- "Love the layout" -- 20 times in a 5 minute period it is obvious that the person is not even looking at the layouts - the person is just mass commenting for points.  I certainly can't look at 20 layouts and type 20 comments in 5 minutes.  Can you?

She is in no way complaining about the "quality" of the layout comments. She is complaining about being used simply so someone can get points.  It's disingenuous.  I agree with her.
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙
