How Do You Choose?
When choosing papers:
A. Do you pick papers that you're drawn to and stockpile them, knowing that eventually you'll have a photo to go with them?
B. Do you choose papers with upcoming projects in mind?
C. Do you specifically choose papers using your photos to match up as you make your choice?
D. All of the above.

I'm a D. all of the above, although I do mostly A.
I'm at a crop today at my sister's and I'm working on our 2009 Florida vacation. I've been buying tropical paper and vacation paper & embellies for this album and storing it together so I just grabbed that and some card stock.  It doesn't seem like I have any of the right paper for my pictures. Image Either the color is off or the style isn't right. Maybe it will get easier once I get to the beach pictures.

I work around my photo(s).  Now, I have found some papers that I've used for just journaling layouts.  But, all in all, my papers and supplies are totally based on the photo.
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

D.  all of the above.

But I try to do B.  choose papers with a project in mind.  Just takes me a while to get those projects done, if ever, lol.

yep I am an all of the above kind of scrapper too.  My friend who got me into scrapping so long ago carries her pix to the SB store and carefully, (so slowly and carefully) matches her paper to her pictures just so.  She never just randomly buys pp.  Drives me nuts.

Re: How Do You Choose?
I rarely buy with something in mind - mainly I just choose what I like and I guess stockpile.  I don't tend to go for very themey type paper, of course there are exceptions like Christmas and 4th of July, but it makes it easy to work all my photos in with pp.

lol. That would drive me nuts too, but I bet she never has papers sitting around for years that she doesn't or can't use. Image

Re: How Do You Choose?
A and B. I think.... I buy papers I know I can use, like wintry papers or Spring or Easter themed, knowing I'll need those when I want to scrap Easter pics or otherwise. Maybe that's the same thing as C? Buying papers specifically for the pics I have or that I'm going to have? lol Otherwise, I do and have recently (my last couple orders) bought papers specific for layouts I wanted to do.

If it is doggy it usually gets bought no matter what.  Some I don't buy until I have the pics to go with the paper.

I either buy paper I love or paper with a specific theme or layout in mind, like birthday or a trip. I rarely buy paper to specifically match a photo. Since I also make cards I use a lot of the papers love for them.

Re: How Do You Choose?
A ... I pick whatever papers I like and then find a way to make them work with the photos I have on hand. I tend to steer clear of super thematic prints/designs and go for more versatile papers so I don't usually have a problem using my purchases. Once in a blue moon I'll buy a paper with a specific layout in mind, but 99.9% of the time I don't know how or when I'll use it when I buy it! Image

That's me....both with paper and digi supplies. Once in a great while I will specifically look for colors, but it usually has to do with a specific project....like Guard, or prom, things with specific colors.

Re: How Do You Choose?
I'm mostly an A...I know the colors & patterns that I like to work with which will typically go with the pictures I take.  Now that I know what I work best with, the papers don't stockpile so much.  BTDT and I try very hard to not let that happen again.

There is an occasional B for example, I am working in gift albums right now so I bought specific papers for those projects, bunt I primarily draw from my stash.

I'm A - I  choose papers I like then I make them work with my photos. I just love paper and can't help but buy collections and figure out what I will do with it later.

Right now, though, I'm not buying any paper. I could scrap for years and not run out.
