went today to get some crafty stuff for Cole's Valentine box and of course hit the scrappy section. In ours, it used to be right up front with a ton of stuff. Now it is in the very back in a corner and not very much stuff. Archivers and now a small section in Michaels (at least our store ) So sad to see this industry go from HUGE to small.
WE MUST KEEP ACOT going!! I would die without it!!
I buy more from ACOT than I do from J's, M's and HL combined!

Interesting... I haven't been in Michaels in a long time since I haven't been scrapping lately. I wonder if this will happen to all of them.

The Michael's here have very large scrapbooking sections. Especially the one where you and I met up. Sorry yours has such a small scrappy section.
LOL I guess I'll have to go place another order here. You know... I have to do my part. LOL.

oohhhhhh TOTALLY me too!!!! I just don't want our hobby to keep shrinking----just used to be SO popular. TONS of magazines now there are none--unless you count digital which is fine but I used to like sitting at the car wash or the hairdresser and flipping thru a scrappy mag.karensay wrote:I buy more from ACOT than I do from J's, M's and HL combined!

Same here! (Except we don't have HL here)karensay wrote:I buy more from ACOT than I do from J's, M's and HL combined!
Yours was SO cool and remodeled with Scrappy being a main area there!! I have not seen many like that. Wonder if they were pilot ones? I know I will hit it again next time I am that way.pawprints wrote:The Michael's here have very large scrapbooking sections. Especially the one where you and I met up. I have noticed the size of the scrapbooking departments in several stores dwindle. Makes me sad, sometimes I need the tactile satisfaction of seeing and feeling things before I buy them, and even as fast as ACOT ships, sometimes I need the perfect thing RIGHT NOW. I guess the industry changes will teach me to be more of a planner.

Yeah its the newest one in the area and so cool how they have the scrappy section set up. You MUST let me know when you are this way again so I can meet you there!!suslvgeo wrote:Yours was SO cool and remodeled with Scrappy being a main area there!! I have not seen many like that. My Michael's section is still huge. But, it's also very pricey - more so than even Archiver's. So, I rarely go to Michael's for scrappy stuff. While I was off-line, Archiver's was my go-to spot. When they closed I was crushed - but I was also there closing day and got tons of stuff cheap.
I'm so glad to be back on line and to have ACOT. You should see the total of my basket . . . and I've only been back on line for a week.

OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
Ours is pretty big too. But I hardly ever buy anything anymore. Unless I need adhesive or cardstock PRONO! Or something like bling.pawprints wrote:The Michael's here have very large scrapbooking sections. Especially the one where you and I met up. Sorry yours has such a small scrappy section.

The closest M's, HL, etc. is about 2 hrs. away so I don't go often. The last time it was still the same size as always, probably 4 or more aisles. I do most all my shopping at ACOT and just placed a large order yesterday. So thankful for those points!
Ours has a pretty big section for scrapping and I hope it stays that way. Besides the regular section they now have a seasonal section by the front. I usually buy albums from them with coupons.
closest one to me is a town over...and it has a decent section but they are pretty selective on what they are carrying it seems lately.....
we have a hobby lobby opening this spring so it will be interesting to see what they will have
atho acot is still my go to

I noticed that AC Moore locally has cut the paper crafting to 3 aisles when it used to be 5 w/end caps set up. Jewelry making has taken over a lot of that space.

So far this year (and it's only February mind you) I have spent about $150 at Michaels. A Cherry on Top? about $300. Yeah. I have my priorities

That's unfortunate. I don't scrapbook anymore but I was in a Michael's near me recently for other stuff and the scrap section was still in the front and quite big in this store. Almost made me want to start up again...

I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line.

-Shannon- are you still crafting? Sewing? Needle point? Card making? Altered journaling? What are you doing for fun?

All these 'big names' that used to be LSS or online only and now they are making agreements with the big box stores. Hobby Lobby seems to have the most of the 'good stuff', but Project Life is now at J's, M's and HL, Heidi Swapp is at M's (lots of MME is at M's, too...some is rebranded to Recollections and then some MME stuff they have it a rebrand of Teresa Collins, too), and Jillibean Soup, MME, and BG are at J's (even some random bits of other companies but some stores get more than others in Studio Calico...veneers specifically). Seeing the big brands in big box stores is sort of nice because it makes it easier to get. The downside is that it may be an indicator that they aren't able to keep making money online and at local scrappy stores. I hope it's more that they want their product to be easier to access and not the decline in the industry, but I'm probably fooling myself.
