I haven't watched American Idol in years ... the last full season I watched was the season Taylor Hicks won.
That said - the 2014 judges do sound promising!

That was announced months ago. But yes, I'm sooo excited! Randy is still on the show just as mentor (what Jimmy Iovine has done the past few years) instead of judge.

Just as excited for The Voice finale tonight tho, the finalists were all my faves (which *never* happens, lol!).

Months ago? That just shows how out of the loop I am, I guess!! LOL!! I didn't watch much last year...Nicki and Mariah got on my nerves!!!

I'm kind of sad about Randy, but really excited about the other judges. JLo was my favorite of the previous panel, and I love Keith. Harry will add a good dimension, I think. I have watched every season since the end of the first one...love it! Hope they didn't do themselves in with Nikki Minaj as a judge last year. She was horrible and so ridiculous!

I'm excited about this group too! Sorry, but I was ready to send Randy off. I know he's still there as a mentor. But I just don't like him. I haven't been a huge fan of the show since Simon left, but I did watch and enjoy JLo the season she was a judge!! I think the trick of that show is having only one female judge!! LOL!

Joannie, I am also excited. I used to love Idol, but after Simon left, it just seemed to go down hill for me. Poor choice of judges???? May be watching again this year!

I have never watched it--although I LOVE some of the winners (or runner ups) Kelly Clarkson--Carrie and Daughtery!! But with Keith and Harry, I might just be doing it. Glad that crazy nicki chick is gone!!!

Yep, because the auditions are held during the fall, and judges are at the auditions!

I thought that Jennifer Lopez was the best judge that Idol ever had, and I am so glad to see her back this year. I really liked Keith Urban too. But I will miss Randy, dawg lol! With that said I only watch Idol these days after they pick the top 12 finalists. I just can't stand seeing all those people that sing like idiots think that they are so good, then curse out the judges when they are not picked. Seriously? I just want to see the real talent. Plus honestly, it is too time consuming to watch those long 2 hour shows twice a week for months lol.

I agree, some of those people are ridiculous and they know it!! I don't watch too many of the earlier auditions either, unless I've heard there is someone who knows someone that is suppose to be on. I will probably turn on the first show and watch some to see how the 3 judges mesh!!

I have only watched the show a few times by chance. Mostly because I have a hard time watching people be mean to the singers. Or maybe Simon was the only mean guy?

I have not watched this crazy show since it did wrong to Chris Daughtry. I am a fan of The Voice and have not missed a season or episode yet. The contestants should not be judged by their appearance. That is why I love The Voice - it is strickly judged by their voice, and the judges are so much fun and aren't mean at all. They give great constructive critisim which is the way it should be.

With all of the said, I will NEVER watch American Idol again.

I too will miss Randy and I LOVE that they brought back J Lo! I sat and watched the 1st episode last season and only made it about 15 in when I turned it off and walked away. I CANNOT stand Nicki Manaj. Blah...OMG she was annoying. DH actually sat and watched the entire episode. He tried watching the second one...but had to turn it off. NOW..with this NEW line up....we might actually sit and watch this season!

Sounds like an improvement! I haven't watched since David Cook won (love him). Maybe the changes in judges will get my attention again. TFS!

I can't stand Jennifer Lopez, just hated watching her. I always say I'm not going to watch anymore and then I do, at least some if not every week. My favorite judge was Steven Tyler. I wasn't going to watch after Simon left, b/c I liked Simon as a judge, but I had to watch Steven, and really enjoyed him. Nicki M. was a joke. Worst ever.

The voice is my absolute favorite. I've been watching since the very beginning. I'm disappointed with the outcome tonight - the winner was not a favorite of mine at all, but that's the game. I've got a lot of favorites on my itunes.
