The New Year is coming quicker than I like. With that is my resolve to be more organized. What is your favorite organization tip or solution. Thanks everyone.

Scrapbook specific: My best organizational tool is a composition book. I started in the summer using it to keep track of specific events and things I wanted or needed to complete a layout, I make notes to myself about techniques I want to try, journalling ideas and starts for when I get all the right stuff together. It has helped tremendously at thise times when I sit down and don't know where to start.
In general: My New Year resolve is to adopt a "touch it once" philosophy. I tend to move piles around many times before I actually put something away properly. My goal to organize in the new year is to touch something one time to get it put away properly instead of make a pile, move a pile, can't find what I need, etc. I am tired of living in clutter, so this will be the first step to me cleanse.

I LOVE organizing! Come to my house! 
No, I'm not OCD about things, but everything has a home. We don't have oodles of stuff in the storage closets or garage just "because we MAY need it" etc. If I wasn't a teacher, going into organizing/helping others in their homes would have been my second choice for a career!

Honestly, the best thing I ever did was purge! Things buried deep in a drawer or closet were obviously not important to me and out it went. If it was broken or crappy it went in the garbage. Carloads of things went to good will or a local thrift store which uses sales to benefit war vets. Boxes of scrap supplies went to teacher friends and my mother's library.
For my scrap stuff, I found I like having everything within reach. I have almost all my stuff in drawers and baskets on or under the table with paper/cardstock, stickers/thickers, embellishments, etc. I have buttons, brads/eyelets and diecuts/chipboard elements sorted by color but the rest of it is fairly random. It looks crazy but I know where things are. Since they are easily accessible, I flip through almost everything for each layout, which only takes a couple of minutes, and now find that I am using my stash. It's more efficient than it sounds and I am so glad I am finally using things.

At the beginning of last year, we "purposed" to share ideas. We originally had someone gather volunteers that would host a thread each month for a specific part of our stash. So if I remember correctly, one month was paper, another was ribbon, another was embellies, etc. But it died after a few months. Not sure what happened.
We might be able to ressurrect those threads into one area, and try again. especially since we have so many newbies on the MB; their input can give us new ideas

I LOVE this thread idea.
One area of organizing I am particularly proud of is my ribbons. I know they're on the way out for some people, and I do use them less than before so they have moved off my desk and onto the bookshelf.
I bought black faux-suede hatboxes at a closing out sale and each is wrapped with a ribbon of the colour they contain and pinned with a co-ordinating brooch. I know at a glance which hat box I need. Plus I think they look pretty.
(That ribbon rack beside them also was relocated to the bookshelf.)
Also love my mini drawer system made by dh that has all my buttons and resin pcs etc, sorted by colour, indicated by the clips. Love that.
that basket no longer has a kitty in it, but all my washi rolls, also kept on the bookshelf.
Now if I could just find a suitable solution for my paper!! It works the way I have it right now better than any other way, but I don't particularly like it, I still don't find it's ideal .
I have racks, and double-sided are sorted by "theme" - girly patterns "boy" patterns, bright patterns, vintage/distressed, textured, kraft, and My Mind's Eye. Then single-sided sheets are sorted by colour.
Any ideas?

Keep cleaning supplies stored in the room you use them. Each room should have its own supplies so that it is easy to wisk them out and use them.

Best organization tool I ever got for my scrappy stuff was The Scrap Rack!! I love it. I can easily flip though it to find what I am looking for. I have everything arranged by theme.

My golden rule of organization is thou shall see everything ... I am an "out of sight, out of mind" kinda girl so if I don't see it I will forget all about it and not use it. I try to keep things visible, on racks and shelves, rather than stored away in drawers and boxes. This kind of a system won't work for everyone but it has certainly helped me!

My suggestion is to look at how you scrap and then set your space up to work with how you scrap. That is pretty broad I know, but that is how I had to start when I set up my current space. This space is about my 4th design and it now works well. Yes most of what I use is within reach. Everything is labeled so I know what is in what drawer. Paper is stored in vertical containers and labeled by content color or theme.
If you scrap starting with color, then organize papers and cardstock by color. Cardstock should all be by color. Pattern Paper can be organize many ways, color, manufacturer, theme/event. Just know how you would go looking for something.
I have a container just for brads, jars for buttons, a nuts and bolts bin for flowers, one container for all my inks, one for all my stamps and so on. It is how I think about things. So how do you think about things in your scrap room? How do you scrap?

I didn't know we were organizing our kitties. I have two, so that presents a bit of a challenge...

I have just heard about this. I need to do a little research on it. But, what do you do when you go to a crop? I have one of these too but I use it for my "Scrap Bible"- sections with projects, ideas, sketches, etc.
