Hi everyone. I am interested to know if there are any artist trading cards enthusiasts like myself here. I normally just like to create them, and I'm often inspired to see what other people create on a tiny card.
i've always been meaning to make them but just never have lol

I was involved in a Challenge board (not here) once upon a time, where we "had" to create a set of ATC. It turned me off of the concept, probably because of the requirements in the Challenge itself.
If someone could show me the real purpose of this concept, I might try it again.

I was only in a swap once, where we ended up only making 4 ATC's.
(I believe) They are meant to be an expression of the artist--whatever fits their mood or personality, or whatever--traded to other artists or sometimes kept--they are an art form like mixed medias, journals, scrapbook layouts: whatever you want to make them be to you.
I had planned to put the ones I received on scrapbook layouts as embellishments (I was thinking like a tag or something), but when I received mine back, the ladies who did them really personalized them to suit their styles, etc. So I put them in my smash book, with the layout there just about swapping with these ladies.

You articulated the need and desire to create ATC's perfectly. I personally enjoy doing them because they allow me to experiment with new techniques, kind of like a mini art journal. Over the years, I would carry around this little black book in my purse, and if I heard something that resonated with me, or if I read a passage in a book that I wanted to remember, I'd quickly write them down in the book. Now, I find I've been using the collection on the ATC's I collect and turning them into what I refer to as "little gems." I normally create at least three as a collection. A short time ago, I created an ATC mini album to store and protect them. And, if I really like them and they're just too pretty to store away, I frame them and put them on my walls.

I have to warn you: once you create one, you can't stop. LOL. I love to add fibers, ribbon's, lace, chipboard, on them too. I'd sure like to see what you create with yours.
I, personally, haven't been in a swap or a challenge using ATC's. The ones I create are extensions of a mini-art journal, so some are personal. But, mostly I enjoy creating them because I find it's relaxing, and I enjoy the creative process, and it's fun to experiment on a new technique. They make a pretty cool form of art work that you can frame and hang up. I once did what I call the "perfumery collection" using mini perfume bottles made out of chipboard (I think they may sell the Blue Fern Studios perfume collection here at ACOT), I'd like to frame them and maybe hang them up in a bathroom, or walk in closet (the walk in closet in my dreams, of course. )I hope you do give it a try. I'd sure like to see what you do with them.letumom wrote:I was involved in a Challenge board (not here) once upon a time, where we "had" to create a set of ATC.
