How do you keep your scrap area?
My is a mess! And I can't scrap when it is like this. Can't find anything and no room on my table to scrap. It is covered!!! When I take my scrappy goodies to work, I clean up after myself after each LO. I put all my stuff away and start over. But I don't do that at home. How do you do it? Do you keep it clean all the time? Or let it be a mess all the time? Or somewhere in between? When does it stop you from scrapping?

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
I'm at a dead standstill with my scrapping for this very reason! I've bought so much more papers and embellies, plus my gifts from my sweet cherry friends that it's piled in containers, on the table, everywhere! I had it cleaned once upon a time but as I discovered new lines, new products and added to my inventory, that I had no new places for them. Also, I've changed how I want things put together so I need a major overhaul! My question is where do I start? I feel like I need a clean slate to firstly designate shelves, containers, whatever it takes to put things in their places.

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
It is always clean. It gets messy when I create but I clean between each LO. I don't want the items left out to influence the choice process for my projects. Plus this room is shared with others. If I leave a mess out, the boys are more likely to get into it. They mostly just look but occasionally a hand reaches out to grab something.
*Oh, it helps that I'm just an uber-organized person to begin with. :winkb:

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
For the most part I keep it very clean. Always my table is cleared and ready for each new layout. The thing I put off the longest is putting my scraps away. I have them in a spot away from table, but hesitate putting them each in their own folders. I keep them in a file cabinet out of site.

I TRY to clean it up after each layout, but sometimes I get so focused when I'm on a roll. But I will definetly clean up Sunday night.

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
I am doing a major overhaul. Moving my IKEA wall unit and the bookcases. I had to empty them to move them and now everything is everywhere. Took my 8ft table out and not one thing is in place. I need to get going if I want to be done before I head back to work tomorrow. Total mess, but I am hoping that I will get it more organized the way I like it. Will post a before and after pic if I can find my camera. I did find my camera and the cord to download some pics. I have my computer sitting on a little parsons table in the corner. My computer will go into another room since I now have a laptop that I can use.

I have a wall unit on the other wall that has 16 empty cubby holes. I'm trying to decide if I want to move my paper back in the wall unit or leave it all in this lower unit under the window. I still have more papers and I think I can get them all in that unit. Then I can put all my embellies etc in the tall wall unit. I also have a smaller 4 cubby hole unit that I am going to put my stamps and inks in since I have been using them more. Need to get busy to get done tonight. I've got my work cut out for me this evening.

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
When I'm in the paper mode, and not at a crop, I try to clean up between layouts. At a crop, I'm more inclined to just keep scrapping, because I know I'll have to clean up at the end of the day anyway.

When I'm in digi mode, all I have to do is shut down the computer. Of course, I "save" my layouts that are not completed, if I still need to work on them before uploading or printing. :winkb:

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
Here is a pic of the main area. It's changed a bit with what is on the shelves, but same furniture layout. Behind this desk area is 2 large workbenches that house more stuff and allows me to work with inks and mists, and where I keep my sewing machine right now... I think this pic is about 2 years old. Sorry about the large photo..

I'm a neat scrapper so I usually put most things away after each layout.

I usually try to clean up between projects but since I started doing the challenges I just don't feel like taking the time.
So right now it's a disaster are!! My side table is packed with paper stacks, 6x6 pads and embellishment packages... And the desk is crammed with them and ppr cutoffs... The floor is littered with packages I need to put back, and there's an overflowing box ready for. P.L.
One of these days!

I try to put most everything away after each LO, but some stuff gets left out. My room I would say is semi clean right now. I do have a lot of supplies that need to be put away on my other desk, but my work space it pretty clean.
Mildred - Mom to 2 girls and a husband (I tell people that I am a single mom of 3. Ages 59, 37 and 31) lol. And a proud Grandma to Orahn (7) Sawyer (5) and Mazie (3).

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
It took me a long time to figure out how to store my supplies and there was much trial and error. A couple of years ago I did an organization challenge on another site, one of the early lessons was to do a layout and pay attention to what works in your space and what doesn't. Re-organizing after that was easier, I didn't need new organization items, just needed to use them in a different way. It is very easy now for me to clean up after each page and also at the end of a day of scrapping. My biggest motivation to clean up though is my cat, she loves paper and ribbon and always hangs out in the room with me, everything must be catproof!! I will try to put some pics in the gallery, I use the corner of the guest room for my space (not sure I remember how).

Re: How do you keep your scrap area?
I scrap in the dining room. Since my kitchen is small I don't have a table there, we eat all our meals in the dining room. This makes me clean up after I scrap. I store everything in travel totes w/ wheels and a large paper stand-up rack. It doesn't take me long to clean up and by having totes it is easy to run to a crop whenever I want. On weekends the kids eat in their rooms or on our porch, so I don't have to clean up Sat & Sun. It works for now, buy someday I want a craft room.
