Posted this on facebook but did not get a solution yet... hoping you ladies have a suggestion that works before I pull ALL my hair out!! LOL
tidbits:
I sort by Color mostly (unless things can fit into a theme--but even then I don't really like it as I tend to forget to look there unless it is themed page and most sheets have stuff that can be used for things other than boy or summer)
Sorting by color works GREAT for sheets or items that are primarily one color but when you get something like this that can be used for so much more than summer.
okay...here is where I need the help...I have a TON of things like this that I am trying to organize so I know I have it!! Have tried sorting in groups of color themes but that has turned in a crazy thing. Then I thought, maybe rub-ons, stickers, border etc...but that turned crazy too...
the only thing that has come out of this is I have found stuff I did not even remember I have. oh VEY!!!
How do YOU sort this kind of stuff!!....help!!!

**Hanging head in shame** I don't organize I just kinda throw stuff in general likeness categories. Sometimes I'll keep a collection together that I really love, sometimes I throw other like things together in baskets. Sorry I'm no help, but will watch this thread to see if I learn a thing or two
I only sort my cardstock by color. All pp is sorted by theme. I used to sort it by color but have since reorg'd it.
When I first see a paper I like, I usually have a thought in mind as to what it reminds me of/how I would use it. I put it in that category. IE: I have sometimes put paper in the 'girls' section that could be used as a spring layout or formal layout.... When I run across it, I may refile it into another section, or keep it where it is.
I also have folders/bins for each year, so if I buy paper specific for certain layouts, I will put it in that project bin, with a post it (if needed) as to what I want to use that on. I keep all of my ticket stubs, programs, calendars and other things in these yearly project bins to help when I start working on that years worth of pics..............As you can tell I am NOT caught up!!! LOL

I feel the pain. I try to look at it ( the paper) to see what pops out at me, in other words that example I would probably put in with summer stuff ( even though it could be used many ways) because of the sun...and colors ..not sure if I am saying it right, it's not a perfect plan but I look at it to see what my first thought about it is, or where I would look for it at...???
My categories are my kids, family, baby, Halloween, Christmas, spring ,summer , beach. ( sometimes those overlap). Valentines and florals are in with spring, 4th 0f July is in with summer...etc and on and on lol

I just sort my papers by color.
Stickers/die cuts and other embellishments like that one I store in one of these things from Making Memories:

I have my patterned paper sorted by color, but I have a drawer for some other stuff - like one is hockey, one is beach, one is comic book and trademarked, etc. And I put them in the plastic wider sleeves you can buy at Michael's or ACMoore - and then store them in drawers with what's in them. My friend stores hers upright, so she puts a tag off to the side like you use for binders. I also throw the matching stickers, etc., stuff like that in it. My "sorted by color" paper is always generic paper.
I guess I won't be much help since I usually organize by Theme and Lines that go together.
I have a huge peg board and I have hooks full of stuff like this! I need to look at it more often so I'll use it! So sorry not much here!!

I try to organize by theme, I would put that in summer.

I keep my stuff like this with the paper lines. I then keep some of the embellishments together by manufacturer (such as buttons, brads, flowers, etc) so that when I use that line I know where they are. I too, though, have trouble organizing. I am constantly changing thinking each time it is better. I could get so much more scrapping done if I didn't keep moving things.
Yeah, those are the hardest for me too! Right now I just have them all together in the front of my box of (themed) folders, & usually just leaf thru them when embellishing a LO. Really small embellies (like chipboard that gets punched out but not used) I have in a small drawered organizer by color.
that's why I rarely organize - I think I've got a plan then something doesn't fit and then it just messes with my head. I basically sort by product type - chipboard, metal, stickers, rubons etc. Every time I scrap I usually pull out everything anyway.
This is why my stock is in such a mess right now! If it came with coordinating pp's then I keep it together with that. Otherwise, I'm pulling out things I know I have cause, for instance those cute clouds and think it will work, then realize the colors don't do well with my cardstock or background...there fore switching back and forth... use these cut outs and change backgroud pps or find another sheet with stickers/cardstock whatever. Let me know if you system works better. I'm thinking when I DO get in there and get those piles of unsorted stuff off my couch, then perhaps I'll try themes.

Unless the embellies specifically can be categorized by mfg. theme or color, just put them all together in any kind of storage and remember to review what you have once in awhile. Then you will discover products you already have and use them when you can. I have to go through several places to find all my stashed items. But sometimes you find just the right one for a current project.

I am going through the HORROR of organizing my scrap room right now. I start by THEME, then what is left over goes by manufacturer. I have SO MANY themes!

I also sort by color. And when i come to something that is like this, I sort it into a seperate compartment of my paperholder and then within in that one, I put it like this, "multi-colored w/a white background" (like the one you have here is), then "with a brown background", "with a dark background". So that at least my eye can flip through them quickly. Also, I have found that with the majority of manufacturers, spring/summery things do have the light background, fall things have the browns etc, halloween has the darker, as does Christmas. So you are really doing dual organization this way!

I keep all my PP together by manufacturer and by collection. My Bazzill I currently have in ROYGBIV but with over 5000 sheets right now, I am seriously thinking of moving to alpha by name since I am often looking for a name more than a color, if that makes sense.
oh, where did you find THOSE!!! they would be perfect for all the little embellies and things I have in boxes that I have to dig through all the time when I need a little something to add to a LO! and I bed the stand up nicely on a table without taking up too much space!Morris4 wrote:I just sort my papers by color.
