So it's only 3:30 and the snow storm has started here. We are supposed to get anywhere from 4"-15", depending on how hard it hits us.
Pros - I did lots of grocery shopping done yesterday so we won't starve.
I have lots I can do inside.
I have pictures to scrap.
As long as the internet works I can play online too.
Cons- I hate snow.
I hate being confined to the house.
I look horrible in hats.
Were do you live that you are getting so much snow? I wonder if it is from the storm that hit here a couple of days ago. We live in the Twin City area and mostly got rain, but north of us got hit pretty good.
Mildred - Mom to 2 girls and a husband (I tell people that I am a single mom of 3. Ages 59, 37 and 31) lol. And a proud Grandma to Orahn (7) Sawyer (5) and Mazie (3).
I'm only about an hour south of you, and we aren't even in the winter "weather advisory" section! It's very gray outside, but no hint of any kind of negative weather other than typical Michigan in March. I'm not sure I would mind a decent shut-in type of snow storm...we really haven't had one, and I wouldn't object to not going anywhere this weekend. DH is building some shelves for the bedroom (he is having a blast with his new table saw) and the kids are watching tv. I'm dreaming up a challenge..... I could easily stay home!akgnere wrote:So it's only 3:30 and the snow storm has started here. We are supposed to get anywhere from 4"-15", depending on how hard it hits us.

I'm jealous! We haven't had much snow this winter at all. Maybe we'll get one good snowstorm in March...
OK, I lied...I am an hour and a half south of you. Amazine what a difference a relatively short distance can make!Ayla wrote:I'm only about an hour south of you, and we aren't even in the winter "weather advisory" section! Even different parts of the cities got a bigger mess... I live farther north and I almost cried when I stepped outside to catch the bus Wednesday morning. When I went to the dentist in the southern suburbs I was astounded at the difference in snow... I'm just glad it's warming up. :P I hope we're not supposed to get any more.... :S

I live in the northern half of the lower pennisula of MI. I live about 1.5 hours from the bridge and 1.5 hours from Saginaw. So kind of in the middle of the upper half. Last Friday we got 6" and then it kind of melted. Then Wednesday we get 6" but no real melting, so by the end of the weekend we will have plenty of snow for the snowmobiliers.mgehrke wrote:Were do you live that you are getting so much snow? No snow here and the weather was up in the 70's today. The winter weather may be great, but the summer is too hot! No comfort at all.

Too warm for snow here. We just got drowned in a monsoon, however. Plus, we are under a tornado watch...

Unsettled to stormy weather here from Tuesday afternoon through last night. We got a bit over an inch of rain, but 30 miles UP the highway they got hit with a winter type snowstorm. lower elevation that seldom get snow got a foot or ore and higher elevations got up to 5 feet. But we need it. We are so behind in rain and snow this year. We could use a bit more lol but expected to be 70 here again on Sunday.

We haven't got much of anything for a winter, which is ok with me, loving the 60 degree weather. The ranchers on the other hand are going to be hurting if we don't get some moisture, can't feed the cattle grass if it doesn't grow.
So wave 1 of the snow storm has passed. We got 10+ inches of heavy wet snow. The power at our house went out at midnight and of course I can't sleep without sounds. So I laid awake on the couch most of the night. Hubby got up at 5:30 because he drives Amish to work. But he wasn't able to get to far because we had approximately 15 trees down in the driveway, and then he put the truck in the ditch while talking to his brother on the phone on his way back to the house. So at about 7am I got all bundled up with hubby and his brother (who lives 3 doors down) to cut up the branches and get the road cleared so we could plow.
2.5 hours later the branches are cleared, the road is plowed until my father-in-law (who lives next door) gets his truck stuck in my driveway. So after a total of 3 hours all was cleared and cleaned up.
Of course Consumers says that we won't have power back on until about 4pm on Sunday. So because no electricity mean no heat, here I set at the local motel with the laptop and 2 dogs.
It was fabulous to get a hot shower after all of the work this morning. I even got about a 20 minute nap earlier.
So now for the bummer. Wave two of the storm is supposed to start this afternoon with more snow (like we need more) and with 30-40 mph winds. So it's going to be might blizzardy out.
But at least I have heat, power and my dogs.
Oh wait - my husband too.
