Thank you. Cause of death is undetermined at this point. He was not ill at all, not even congested. But he lived on a ventilator and had a trach, so there are many possible complications at any time that could happen. Evidently something happened when his mom left the room for a while.

Bibi, I am so very sorry!!! ((((hugs)))) I know how attached a nurse can become to patient like that; my sister took care of special needs children before my niece's accident and she was very attached to her patients... it is a very sad and heartbreaking situation!

I know this is impacting you in more ways than one and this time in your life, things are easily overwhelming. May God be with you now and help you through your feelings at this time. I know from personal experience too that you, Bibi, are a loving, caring nurse to your patients and it is like losing one of your own when you've been with this family and patient for years. This child would not have lasted this long without the care of his nurses. Never forget how valuable your job is, and it is truely understandable how hard this is right now for you.
