My little boy patient that I work with at night passed away today. His mom went into his room, he was unresponsive. She tried and failed to resussitate him. I am devastated. I have worked seven years with him; he was my baby. It isn't like he was my son, but I loved him just the same. Please pray for him and his family. Thanks.

Thanks, everyone. I am so overwhelmed. And angry. About everything! My little guy, my dh being sick, me complaining about it all, being a wus! I hope someone tells me to just shut up! Soon. They shoot horses, don't they? Will someone just shoot me, please?
OK, my rant is over. Thanks for everything, ladies.

I know this is impacting you in more ways than one and this time in your life, things are easily overwhelming. May God be with you now and help you through your feelings at this time. I know from personal experience too that you, Bibi, are a loving, caring nurse to your patients and it is like losing one of your own when you've been with this family and patient for years. This child would not have lasted this long without the care of his nurses. Never forget how valuable your job is, and it is truely understandable how hard this is right now for you. You have many here to give you cyber hugs. May they be a comfort to you and know we care. ((((( HUGE HUG )))))
Debbie
oh no. how very terrible. so sorry for your loss and for his family.
Oh I'm so sorry. Don't every hesitate to rant...you need to get it out and it's great here because we can take it Talking to woman, I find, helps tremendously.
Thoughts and prayers go out to you during this stressful time. You will get through this because you are strong. God made woman strong for a reason...so we can take care of others. The hard part is not having anyone to take care of us...so keep talking if that makes you feel better and we are here for you. I love reading all your posts so please don't stop. Keep us posted on everything.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that we, ACOT, will have his family in our thoughts and prayers.
I totally understand how attached you can become to a "patient" and losing them is so very hard! Prayers to his family as they cope with this loss, and hugs to you as you also deal with a loss!!

Oh, Debbie, you words mean so much to me! Thank you. You are in the unique position to understand better than anyone. And from more than one point of view. You are a loving nurse to your own patients and also to your sweet son. I am gratified to know that I have given my all to this young boy and his family and consquently enabled him to live a better and longer life. Now, he is God's angel and living a much better life! But he has left his family and his nurses here on this earth to deal with things. I will have to bear up. His family will be fine in time, but we all will miss that sweet boy. He was only 8 yrs old. Rest in peace. And thank you, Debbie, again.debamas wrote:I know this is impacting you in more ways than one and this time in your life, things are easily overwhelming. Thank you, all for you expressions of love for me. I am sitting here, typing and tears are rolling down my face! It feels good (except I am at work). I appreciate that you don't mind me ranting and venting and getting it all out. I don't mean to sound like a self-centered bit--. But I am one at times. LOL Thank you, I love you all.
