Been 15 yrs since I had a pabstmear..
I know I know.. before you go throwing bananas at me...I did finally go!!! I became seriously phobic of the speculum and its clinching pinching... plus being oversized for so long, made me avoid it more..

well my cycle stopped..though yea great menopause.... then suddenly started with a vengance... needless to say soaking every hour is not a good thing..

went in for the routin pabtsmear..then he did internal sonogram... (dang didnt even get dinner, candlelight or wine with that bit o joy;) then he sees a thick area on my wall...
so decides to do a biopsy right there...OUCH! endocopic biopsy... will get results back in a week. he said doesnt look cancerous but wants to put me on progesterone because of the clots and lining not shedding completely..

he also had me do labs for anemia... fun day before valentines day..lol NOT.. but at least I finally went.. and yes the biopsy hurt a lil. but was over fast...

I am so glad that you went and did the needed procedures! Yay! You must take care of yourself. I went last week and had a mammogram and bone scan. Do it EVERY year. It is freeing. I will pray that all the tests come out OK.

thank you for going!~ IT's not always fun is it!

I hope everything works out all right - if you need to chat or share feel free to PM me - I am learning to speak freely about all issues and had a long talk with my GYN about 2 weeks ago. I think that I can handle any conversation after that.

Re: Been 15 yrs since I had a pabstmear..
Congrats Lana for going. Hoping everything goes okay. I've been going every year since I was 18. I am now 32. My Mom developed Cervical Cancer when she was 35, and she has been cancer free for 20 years. My grandmother (her mom), unfortunetly, developed Cervical Cancer at 36, and passed away at the young age of 39. I have already been diagnosed with cervicitis, so going in every year to make sure everything is okay is a must for me.

You probably have endometriosis (thick endometrium) - causes pain and heavy bleeding. Usually caused by menopause.
You should be ok but I am glad you went to get checked.

Yes, as annoying and uncomfortable as those tests are, it is good to go and be safe. I have been cancer free for 17 years now, and that test I am sure saved my life. Glad you went!

Even though it wasn't fun I am glad you went. I have been avoiding a mammogram but in light of me riding Bob to take care of himself I couldn't very well shirk that one, so I finally got the slip from the doctor to get one done. Here's to good health for everyone!

I am so happy Lana that you went. Yes, it is unpleasant, but it is worth it in the end. I hope everything comes back ok. Keep us posted.

Nancy I am so happy that you are getting a mammogram. I have been getting them since I was 35. My mom passed from breast cancer 12 years ago. I miss her so very much.

I'm glad you went - I don't like them either. I'm not sure any lady does. It's invasive and unpleasant - and rude. But - it may just save your life! Tomorrow is my 2 year menopause anniversary. I know, Valentine's Day... sure makes it easy to remember :winkb:. Hope your test results are something minor that can be treated.

I've had a couple of mammograms, I'm just not good about getting them regularly. But Bob is diabetic and I am on him like crazy about taking his meds appropriately, so it's not fair if I don't do what I preach, right?

Glad to see you taking care of this hon. While I am not very good about exams (dread them pretty much) as an older woman, I worry when I don't have them done. You had me giggling about the no dinner etc. Will keep good thoughts about the results of the tests for you!

Lana, the same EXACT thing happened to me, and everything was totally fine. Scared me like crazy, because it was a new OB/GYN at the time. (((hugs))) to you.

Glad you had things checked out! I go Thursday for my annual one...although it's actually been about 18 months. I get a yearly mammogram, too, so I'm sure I'll have a slip for scheduling that when my appointment is over. The joys of being female...lol.

Thank you Traci. Some days are easier then others. Other days it seems like I lost her yesterday :(

So glad you went. It's not fun - but if it were 'something' catching it early is the key.

Glad that you went and have the tests behind you. Honestly, I choose a mammogram any day over the pap smear. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that all is okay.

Good for you finally getting it done. I am super vigilant about getting mine done, since my doctor found abnormal cells the first time I had a pabst smear and I had a surgery to have the bad cells removed :?
