Re: What do you pay for a crop?
Queen Mum wrote:When you go to a big crop, what do you pay?

Around here just one gal puts on a big crop at a hotel. It starts on Friday about 6pm and goes until 3 on Sunday. You get a half table in a conference room, breakfast for Sat and Sun, a pj party (with cookies and brownies) on Saturday night, water during the day. A goodie bag includes a shirt (with her logo, of course) but not too much else.

You pay for your own meals (lunches and dinners) and your hotel unless you want to go home.

Cost is $165 (early registration) Classes are extra (Usually $24 -$30 a class) I've even had to pay for a make and take - and if I had been told that making the cards would be a dollar each (without an envelope!) I wouldn't have done them.

I think this is way too much.

A bunch of us crop in a rented space for $10 each. We rent the crop room of a small LSS ($75) WE pay $10 each. There is room for 20 people. If we fill the spots we have a raffle for small door prizes with the left over $$$. We all bring a snack and meals are on our own.

I'd ra
even though it's Friday thru Sunday, that seems a bit pricey when it does not include meals Or even hotel! But, I admit, supplyinmg water was mighty generous :winkb:

Re: What do you pay for a crop?
I just signed up for my first local one that I've found. It's $20 for 6ft table space and goes from 9a - 10p. Apparently all the ladies bring a potluck dish. Since I haven't been before, I'm not sure if she has make N takes or door prizes or what. I'm just happy to get out of the house and get some projects done! Plus, I'm gluten-free, so I can't eat most foods & have to bring my own food. I think I'll bring brownies and one of my gluten-free ones for me!

So, do most of you have scrapping buddies or do you go solo?

Re: What do you pay for a crop?
There is a list that I am on for one at a local YMCA camp. I went to one at a B&B many years ago and am still on the list, although it has been a while since I've gone. I'd like to go again, but I have a hard time coordinating schedules to get a friend to go with me. It seems like if I'm going to go alone, I might as well use my hotel points and just get a room somewhere!

The last one (in February) had three pricing options:
$165.00 includes lodging for two nights, snacks, three meals on Saturday and two meals on Sunday.
If you can not make it for two nights, there is an option for $110.00. This includes lodging, two meals on Saturday and two meals on Sunday.
You may crop all day on Saturday for $65.00

It sounds like I'm getting a lot more for my $165 than you are, although I don't get free gifts or anything like that.

I can't remember what I paid the last time I went on a weekend crop. I guess I've only been to two (usually my friend and I just get a hotel room for the weekend with my points so it doesn't cost us much more than food and gas) and the other one cost about the same. I'm on a mailing list for a CM consultant who has weekend crops at a hotel that cost over $200 for the weekend (more if you aren't sharing a room with someone) and doesn't seem to include very much. I have been passing over that particular opportunity. :winkb:

Re: What do you pay for a crop?
I haven't been to a crop in a long time, but when I was going, we cropped for free. One girl was able to get her church to let us use a room and we each had our own 6ft table. We had plenty of light and outlets as well. We would just all bring a dish to share for lunch or dinner. We would also bring canned goods donations or clothing donations to the church as a way of giving back for letting us use the space. We were usually there from 8am-12am.

My LSS which is very small charges $10 for half of a 6ft table and only goes from like 5pm-12am. They do give a 10% discount on anything you buy.

I've never been to an overnight or weekend crop so I can't speak to that. But after reading the other comments I'm glad my lss hasn't gotten wind of the prices charged elsewhere because our all day crops (9:00 - 7:00) are only $10 with lunch.
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙
