when you heard the news of Elvis Presley's death.
I had 3 children between the ages of 4 and 10 in 1977 so I did all the normal things a sahm does and listened to Elvis' music and cried alllll day. I was a big fan. Still am as a matter of fact. sigh

I was working for an insurance company in Wellington and somebody with the radio on (a "transistor" I believe! LOL) came and told us. I remember one of the older women I worked with had a few tears! I was 18 at the time and in my jazz phase I think ....
I was only 4 so I don't remember much
Here I come to save the day! Chas

I can not remember! I was only 10 so I was probably at school or outside playing!
I was three and twobugs didn't like him so I'm sure we did nothing special. I probably played in the yard. We'd moved into a new house a few months before.
OMGosh, I was at school. When I got home I found my Mother bawling her eyes out. I thought something had happened to someone in the family. She cried for two weeks. She and her sister had just seen him in Savannah, a couple of weeks before. She had a gigantic scrapbook of all things Elvis and had been to Graceland once or twice. When the stamps came out she got some and addressed letters to people she knew had no letter box, so there were returned with the stamp, "return to sender". I took my family to Graceland in 2004. The girls had a great time, and I cried remembering my Mother and how much she loved Elvis.

I vaguely remember hearing the news and knowing he was a celebrity but not much more than that. I would have been not quite 13....I didn't pay much attention to the news then. Oh yeah...I still don't pay a lot of attention to celebrity news!
I wasn't even a twinkle in my daddy's eye! LOL

I was 3. I don't remember that day, but I do know I dressed up like Shirley Temple and sang "Good Ship Lolli-pop" at the preschool program that year.

Don't fear the challenge, challenge the fear.

I was at school, 6th grade. I remember that we were in English class and one of the teachers ran into the room that I was in all hysterical that Elvis had died.
I was 30 and was teaching English to middle school 7th graders (3 longest years of my life btw). I honestly don't remember when I heard it because none of the tvs worked in our school and we were not allowed to have radios even in the teachers' lounge. I probably found out when I got home from work.
WAS a TIKI BAR GIRL AND ALWAYS WILL BE
I heard about it after work. I was almost 24 yrs old. I'm definitely appreciate his music more today. In those days, I was a country rock fan...Eagles, Jackson Browne.

I was 13, and my mom was 43. I remember thinking that she could be next, and was a little scared for a while. Then I realized that she didn't drink like Elvis, so I probably shouldn't worry about it. (I thought he died of drinking too much when I was that age)
