Hi guys!! Just wanted to let everyone know that I am home and recovering well from surgery. It took about 4 hours and my doctor said I was a very lucky lady. Once he got in it was found that my spinal cord was compromised in two spots and that had we even waited another week to do the surgery there was a chance that I could have just woke up one day paralyzed on my left side. I'm in a good amount of pain (percocet is my new best friend) but I am smiling through it because all I have to do is think that I can hug my kids, I can walk, I can talk and I will eventually be scrapping again! Knowing I was so close to losing all of that makes this feel like a walk in the park! I'm two days out (surgery was 10am on Friday) and this morning has been the worst of it so far but its not even really pain...its more like achy all over....like being hit by a truck. I really wish I had not packed up all my scrappy stuff now too.....I'm so bored sitting around not being able to do anything. I can't push, pull or lift anything more than 1 lb. Can't even pour myself a cup of coffee!! I am SO not the type of person to ask for help for every little thing so its been hard! I've been just daydreaming about getting into the new house and getting back to life. Thank you all so much for thinking of me during this whirlwind. I still can't believe how this went from thinking I slept funny to emergency surgery! Its just bizarre. All I can say is from now on, I will NEVER self-diagnose again. If I get so much as a hangnail, I am calling the doctor!!
I am so glad to hear that the surgery went well. I was checking on the mb all day yesterday looking for news. I'm sure that in a few days you will be feeling much better. Just be sure and do as the doctor says and not try to do things before your body is ready. How lucky you were that they found the problem and immediately had the surgery to correct it. That would be so scary, but as you said knowing that you will heal and be able to hug, walk, and scrap again puts it all in perspective. We should never take things for granted. We need to listen to our bodies when something changes and see doctors and not wait thinking it will be okay. Hopefully, you will have a speedy recovery and find things to occupy your time. Keep us updated and take care of yourself.
Susan I have been thinking about you every since I heard that you had to have surgery. I am so happy to hear from you and that things are going well. I am just like you, and don't like to ask for help. I hope you heal fast so you can get back to your normal life. ((HUGS))

SO glad to hear everything went well Susan!!! I have been anxious to find out how you were doing. I checked here a million times since you went in for your surgery and there was nothing so I was worrying. You are one very lucky lady!!!! Take care of yourself and don't do anything you shouldn't!!! You sound like you like being laid up just about as much as I do...lol...
glad you are home and hope you are back on your feet again real soon. I'm so glad you caught it in time to spare yourself from a lifetime of disability.
That's great news! But you still need to take it easy until you heal so do ask for help when you need it!!
I am so glad you are home and that everything went well! Perhaps someone could run out and pick up a bunch of the new scrap magazines--then you can gather inspiration while you rest!

Glad everything went well. I was like Nancy, my first thought was "hey, maybe you could digi scrap..." If not, maybe try passing the time watching some tv or movies (Netflix has lots of stuff to choose from) or maybe finding some online games? Good luck with fighting the boredom and wishing you a speedy recovery!
