I prefer sweet wines. My favorite is from a local winery in Missouri. They are from the St. James Winery and are call Velvet White and Velvet Red.
ChrissyTina wrote:Do you like sweet wines or dry wines? Red wine or white wine?
I'm not usually a red wine drinker, but my neighbor introduced to me a "local" wine here in California and it was PHENOMENAL! It's sweet and it's just like drinking grape juice. Before we knew it, we'd polished of THREE bottles of it!
The type of wine is called a Cardinale and I don't remember the name of the vineyard. If you like, I can pick up a bottle and send it to you! And yes, Pam!!! I'll send you one too!
hmmm that sounds really good!
I like red and white, but the only kind of white that I usually like is Sauvignon Blanc. I used to drink Reisling but now it's too sweet for me. I don't like the oakey taste of chardonnay.
red - the only kind I don't like is Malbec and Tempranillo. I prefer dryer, but that's because sweeter is usually syrupy. the one you described sounds really good! I like grape juice!

Fetzer Gewurztraminer
oooh I used to drink that all the time! also Chateau St Michelle is pretty good.

And these from Folie a Deux are good:
love that second one! I think I might have tried that Cupcake wine. Im not usually a huge chardonnay fan, but I think that one is less oaky than most
SusanZenn wrote:I'm not a wine drinker either but I got this from a friend for Christmas last year and think its a hoot!! I have it on display in my kitchen. Not sure how it tastes though!:
I have actually had that one, and I liked it. but if I were you I would probably just keep the bottle unopened too. I had it at a friend's house
Art_Teacher wrote:We like YellowTail, but my new favorite cheap that doesn't taste cheap is Barefoot wine. Especially their Pinot Grigio, but the Merlot is also good.
yellowTail is the one I need to replace. I have been drinking it happily for years, but for some reason it is not agreeing with me lately. it makes me nauseous and want to burp a lot.
RELAX is my BFFs favorite winesarahwhithers wrote:I prefer sweeter wines myself. Usually Reislings.
The one I get the most cuz it's tasty and cheap is called RELAX ($11 CDN). I drink the white and it is tasty! I also like one called MOOSELAND, this is a bit more in cost ($15 CDN) but very tasty as well. And I also like this brand called Trivente. They are an Argentine wine and are cheap and tasty! The one I like the most never seems to be in the store though. haha!
Have fun!
Oh, and I want some of that california wine too Chrissy! haha!

I think I NEED some of that RELAX, but I live in PA, and we have stupid antiquated liquor laws here. you can only get what is in the state stores, and are not allowed to have liquor shipped to your house. dont think they have RELAX here. that's great though, because that's why I drink wine!

I heard good things about that too, and they had it on sale here for like $4 so I bought a couple
EW! I ended up *gasp* pouring it out! I NEVER do that! I actually started thinking maybe I was pregnant, because the only time I ever really hated wine was when I was pregnant. (I'm not)

I know RIGHT! it never used to bother me until I moved to Arizona and found out that there are some places where you can ... *gasp* ... buy wine in the grocery store!
how much easier that would make my life! I hate having to make a special trip to the liquor store. and even worse - they sell beer at a totally different store! groceries in one, liquor and wine in another, and beer in another. luckily I rarely buy beer. but still, it's just STUPID!
One of my bffs and I really enjoy Fat Bastard (i know that is what made us buy the first bottle plus we liked the little hippo) we buy the Shiraz. Its not too expensive and its really good. (no headaches either)
here is the website Fat Bastard
I think we pay about 10 bucks for the bottle.
the menage e trois is pretty good too (not sure if i spelled it right)

You can buy wine in the grocery store here in Michigan too. I never knew there were states where you can't! lol
I like fruit wine made by a friend at his winery in Muskegon....he is licensed to sell it commercially. You can get it directly at his own store, called Clay Avenue Cellars, or a few select small grocery store/specialty stores. My favorites are the strawberry wine and the pear wine.
I threw ours out as well. Wait....I think I recorked it for my parentsmegamay wrote:scrappie_stacie wrote:Another friend of mine that's always scavaging for good cheap wines likes this brand:
