How is it that I can get to work 32 miles away and people in town can not get to work?

It is crazy here in MID-MO . I sure hope your day is better than it is here.

Yikes!! Its cold here, but at least no freezing rain!! Your right its the worst!!! I understand your complaint about people traveling! I too used to work about 25 miles from home (Macys) and I would always be one of say twelve that would come into work!! And a lot of people lived less than five miles from our mall!!

I know, it's yucky here to as well. Although the snow was just a dusting this morning.

How much snow do you usually get when they close schools? Here it takes about two feet before they close them. I remember a few years ago when it snowed 22" on the friday before Halloween and schools were OPEN!

The ice is the reson for the schools being closed. It does not take as much snow here as in times pasted.
We do have a lot of road in our area that are still not blacked topped.

What really stinks about this is that winter has just begun!!!

We had freezing rain last night and the layer of ice is still out there today. The gravel/dirt roads are better than the streets. Of course, that's if you go slow and don't try to fly! We passed 2 SUVs in the ditch this morning...and I made dh drive me to dd's dentist appointment!

Oh, please, please, please, get the weather gods to bring nice weather around mid January - I'm bring the 5 younger kids to see DD who lives in columbia...haven't had all 6 together in 2 years! I don't mind driving in the snow, but ice is another story!

awww poor thing. You have my sympathy. We do not have that kind of weather but we do have days on end that can lead to weeks on end w/o sunshine when we have fog. Rains a day or three, then fog fog fog. But I am nuts because I prefer it to hot bright summer. Of course being retired, I no longer have to drive in it.

No....winter starts on the 21st!!!! It's still fall!!!!

I'm so glad I live where I do..............but could someone PLEASE SEND ME SOME RAIN! What little winter grasses I have will die within the week with no rain! Waco Weather News say we are headed for a new record low for precipitation. My cows need the grass!

Becky....lol one only needs 2-3 inches of snow in Houston to close schools. One has to understand we have no way to remove snow. They only sand bridges on freeways or heavy traveled roads. But sand roads, NOPE! If it snows or more likely we get ice instead of snow, I just don't drive. I don't know how to drive on ice or snow so I just don't drive. But I work where I live,,,,lol! It's miserable to work in the weather I have to work in at times. We should start calving the end of next month. Checking on cows gets very cold at times.

I'm with you! hate the cold weather myself... we aren't getting the snow like some of you, but the winds are chilling me to the bone and I can't remember the last time I felt warm; and don't get me started on the whole driving thing - last night we had our firsst snow, as we had a coating, people were sliding off the roads all over the place and the radios were going crazy with back to back accient calls! where did eeryone get their DL, in a Cracker Jack box?

I'd rather have 2 foot of snow than the thin sheet of ice that turns everything into a skate rink!
