to can tomatoes for the day! have not done it in years but I remember the backbreaking work and how hot it is standing over the steaming pots! but, doing it at my sisters with her and her hubby this year, so they have all the clean up I am gonna try to take pics of out 'procedures' and make the day fun!
have A great day ladies!!! --- Well, yesterday was awesome but a very long day! I left before they finished, but took 97 photos! I also have at least 40 quarts of sauce and a bushel of peppers that I have to slice and chop to put in baggies and freeze for future cooking. I roased a whole bunch of peppers too! All the kids helped and we had a blast. I looked at the pics last night as they were downloading and started laughing over and over. I think I have all of my Sept/Oct LO's here
Leslie, whatcha want next week, sketti-o's? I know you want them WITH meatballs

oh how fun since it's a family thing....my Grandmother did a ton of canning when I was young. House always smelled great but it is a lot of work, I think the tomatoes are especially a lot of work.
I hope all your lids click! and that you have a great time

It is a lot of hard work, but I love the sense of accomplishment when you are done, and all that fresh food in winter is GREAT!!! Have fun!

I've never canned at all , but I remember my mom doing it. The work now pays off in the winter.
have a great day - occasionally I love doing stuff like that but it is hard work
Have fun! I have lots of jam to make and can, but I really don't know when I'm going to get around to it!
I really miss doing that. I used to do it every year with a good friend and loved the tomatoes in chili, etc. Guess I'm too lazy in my old age, but it sure brings back fond memories.

I love home canned tomatoes!
One year I canned 47 quarts and a bunch of pints. Used them all up.

I always wanted to that but, my family has always made me scared of it, see, my grandma killed her mother in law and father in law by canning green beans. so ya scared...

lucky! I wish I lived where people did fun stuff like that. I'm afraid to do it on my own.
