....after 2 months of waiting. My cancer has returned in the lower abdominal wall. I have suspected it with my test results and some symptoms I've been experiencing in the past couple of weeks. My abdominal cavity is filled with a couple of large pockets of fluid, one around the liver, one in the lower right part of my abdomen. That's the cause of my weight gain, shortness of breath and chest discomfort.
Fortunately,I don't have to have surgery and I am SO happy about that. I do start chemo again on Tuesday 5/18 - not so happy about that but I want to get this treated. This is a different chemo that has a lot of similar side effects as the last ones, and then some of its own. It can cause heart problems, mouth sores and sores to palms and soles of the feet which can become very painful. I will have to be very careful of things I eat and activities that I do. Even chopping food with a knife or doing too much walking can aggravate and bring on the sores. Chemo will be once a month for at least 4 months, maybe up to 8 months. I'm back to the weekly blood draws, grrrr! BUT I shouldn't lose my hair again!
If chemo doesn't take this fluid away pretty quickly, I will have to have it drained. I'd like that done now because it is very uncomfortable. It would be a simple outpatient procedure.
I am ready to get started and get this round treated and over with!

Big hugs for you, Deb! I'm sorry that you are once again having to deal with this, but you've fought this enemy once before with success and you'll do it again. Hang on to that positive attitude!
OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
Oh I am so sorry. I hope it can be treated quickly. P&Pts to you and yours.
so sorry to hear that - prayers for you and your family during this difficult time
Big hugs to you Deb. You can beat this again! My prayers are with you. Stay strong and positive!

Love your positive attitude. For the side effects, consider gel pads for your feet that you can transfer from shoe to shoe. And research the side effects and ways to avoid or treat them on the Net. I'll bet there are lots of message boards and support groups that can help with suggestions about feet and hand sore avoidance. And ask for help here!! Lots of us have been through chemo or know someone, and we might have suggestions for you. Hugs and prayers coming your way.
