I believe it is safe. I had mine done while pregnant and other than this issue with not being able to stop talking my girls are fine
Jenna - Mom to Emily (2/02) & Kaitlyn (2/04)
I had my colored and highlighted during my pregnancies and I think they are fine for the most part - they all grown now and they seem to be in working order.
WOOOOO HOOOOOO MO!!!!!!! I heard about this when I was at Archivers last month and I have been waiting for you to spill the beans...did you spill on fb and I missed it?? Anywho---HUGE CONGRATS sweetie!!
As for haircoloring, I got it done while I was pregant with Cole. I tried really hard not to, but wellllllll I needed the pick me up and talked to quite a few people and they said it was fine. But if you are concerned you could always call your doctor just to be safe!

SUS
Anesthesia can interact with hair coloring and hair perming stuff, but that's in like a 2 week window.
I stopped coloring my hair while pregnant with #1 and am so sorry I did! When she was younger she looked back at pictures and would ask "who is that?" lol. Went right back to coloring with #2! Both are beautiful healthy adults. ok, but i just asked DD#1 who happens to be in school right now for hair, and she said she was not taught anything, but was told that it depends on what trimester you are in. She suggested googling it.

when I was pregnant I heard that you can highlight because the dye doesnt touch your skin, but that you shouldnt do straight up dye. I switched from dying at home to getting highlighted in the salon while I was preggo.
Im sure they are probably both fine though.

LMBO!
Congratulations Mo
DH was so obsessed that we do everything "right" while I was pregnant that he wouldn't let me color my hair... I'm 4'8" tall. When you stand next to me or behind me and I need a touch up...you can definitely see it, know what I mean?!! No hiding MY roots at this height! After about 6 months of it, I was miserable. A guy in line behind me at Wendy's one day actually said, quite sarcastically, "Nice hair." The next ob-gyn appt. I asked the Aryan Princess (our nickname for my doctor who was blonde, blue-eyed and no sense of humor or empathy at all--ice water runs through her veins, I swear) and she looked at me and said "good heavens why NOT?!!" Now this is the woman who insisted that at 38 my eggs were "old" and there was a high risk of DS being born with three heads, so she definitely wanted me to have amnio--which I told her no flippin' way... A risk-taker she is not! My next stop was Walmart for a box of my usual...and I was back to light auburn before the car engine cooled off!! And as you all know, DS is perfectly perfect!!
If you're unsure, ask your doctor...hopefully he/she will give you the green light! Good luck!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!
I would check with my doctor just to be sure.

I'm sure not the one to ask. When I was last pregnant (35 years ago) it was still okay to smoke and drink! Thankfully I never did either. Check with your doctor if you have questions.

Congratulations! I never got highlights, but I heard and read that it should be ok.
Just double check with your doctor - that's why s/he's paid the big bucks!
Congrats!
Congrats!

Not being able to get your hair colored while you ar pregnant is out dated information. A long time ago they thought there were potentially harmful Chemicals found in the dye but it's considered safe now. If you ask your doctor they will tell you it's fine.
Find my books here. See the mom (crafting, cooking, organizing, and homeschooling) side of me here. {Under construction}
I am a licensed cosmotologist in 2 states and yes it is absolutely safe for you to high light your hair. First you are most likely getting foils so the bleach does not even touch your scalp. And even if it did touch your scalp it would not affect your baby in anyway. The worse that can happen is that the highlights dont process because of your hormones (it has happened in my shop more then once) and all that will happen is that you wasted your time. So dont worry about it and get pampered!
Congrats on the baby news! I permed (remember this was 28 years ago) and have colored my hair while preggers and my kids are still pretty intelligent:) It never ceases to amaze me that media (or whoever) likes to scare the crap out of pregnant women! Get your hair colored and be the best lookin pregnant mommy around!!!
Sometimes the one you think is your knight in shining armour might actually turn out to be a retard in tin foil!
THANKS for the info ladies!! I did get my hair highlighted and it looks great and I feel LOTS better! LOL
Sus...no...I haven't spilled the beans on FB!! Just here.... LOL
