When I lived in Ft. Myers, the daily paper ran a short blip they called Roses and Thorns. The Roses would be one or two good things that happened in the town and the Frowns: one or two of the not so good things. I love posting this and we have done a version of this in the TIKI BAR on Fridays. Would you like to play?


Here are mine

SMILES: I spent a lovely day with my daughter who is going through the nesting stage of her pregnancy and we got two closets cleaned out and a good start made on a third.

We are having fantastic weather here and we biked into town this morning for breakfast.

FROWNS: I am struggling with a challenge....argggg. Just can't seem to get it moving in the direction I want.

smiles: Another great warm day! I got all my errands done before 11 am, and have been scrapping ever since.

frowns: another long night at work for DH, lately I only see him about 3 hours a day.

SMILES: today the sun is shining and we went for a beautiful cross country ski near a lodge - the scenery was just amazing


FROWNS: I'm not a good skier and I fell a few times on the downhill portions

Smiles: to the wonderful Amish ladies of Stauffer's Market in St. Peter, Illinois who make THE BEST homemade pretzels in the world every Saturday morning.
to me for finding 3# of steel-cut oats for $2.99, also at Stauffer's Mkt.
to my DH and DS who have been so great in taking care of me while I have been in distress with this tooth.

Frowns: to my back left molar which is still killing me even after a partial extraction (the broken 1/4) and a temporary crown Friday morning

to all the youth ministry kids who ran amok at the Springfield Hilton on 3-31-10 and made it difficult to sleep all night with their yelling and knocking on doors and slamming doors and stomping around and screaming in the elevator. Somehow I don't think Jesus really wanted you to spread the joy after 10:00 p.m.!!! OMG, I turned into the crabby old lady hollering at the kids!

This is so ingenious! I love how you took the concept from the paper and made it even better!!!

Smiles: Our garden is finally done. We got it completely wedded and mulched yesterday with new sprinklers and all. So can finally enjoy it. Its just flowers infront of our house, but its still a garden to me!! It feels like forever working on it and now on these beautiful days.. I can sit and enjoy it!!

Did my first altered project and am Thrilled with it! Its amazing what can be done and will be posting it soon!!

Frowns: Hearing the bad day my hubby had at work just gets to me knowing he deserves to have more man power helping him out but they are so short staffed that he has to do it alone. Harder when knowing he's working with mental patients at the prison on recreation alone. I know that is all that is really needed but still opens my eyes to how dangerous his job really can be.

Took my mom to lunch and shopping and had a fun time. We had taco pizza at Godfather's..yummm! Then I came home and got the dishes
done!





The wind today is 40mph with gusts at 60 and COLD. I think that's why my knees hurt now.

smiles: I had a lovely afternoon taking my son to see the Easter Bunny for the first time.

frowns: He has been fussy since we left the mall.

Smiles: Took my oldest granddaughter to the movies this afternoon. Had a great time.


Frown: Only one more day left of this long weekend (took vacation day Thursday and Friday was a holiday) and then it is back to work for five days before the weekend again.

SMILES: I've been doing mostly scrappy stuff yesterday and today. It's so nice having a 3 day weekend. Tomorrow, my dil has invitied us for Easter dinner. Can't wait. She's a awesome cook.


FROWNS: I still have a couple of loads of washing to do. Also, thinking about having to go back to work on Monday.

SMILES: I got a new haircut and color done today!

FROWNS: Because I had to work yesterday, and due to my recent travel schedule, I was not able to go home (to San Antonio) for Easter. I'm missing my kids and grandkids.

Smiles: I got a little scrapping done and swiffer-mopped the bathrooms




Frowns: Barb's still having trouble sleeping ever since surgery and has not had more than a couple hours of sleep since yesterday.

Frowns: My son lost a dear friend this morning and in his anger and sadness, slammed his fist into the wall and broke his hand.

smiles: dh and I caught up to season 6 in Lost, my son lost his second tooth and we are all healthy






frowns: I tried to scrap and have no mojo, my son is throwing a fit and my Arm feels like it was pulled out of it's socket..

Smiles: today was another sunny, warm day and ds and I decorated Easter eggs with his fiance's 20 month old son (the baby's first time really); it was absolutely the best day and I got tons of great pictures
Frowns: I have done so much prep work getting ready for Easter, as well as 'work' work, that I have myself sick tonight... so, I am heading to bed early with a couple of Aleve so I can enjoy my company tomorrow

SMILES: We had a beautiful warm, sunny week and I'm all ready for Easter and DD #2's 40th birhday tomorrow.


FROWNS: MSU lost the Final Four game. The weather next week is supposed to be cool and rainy. I cut my finger cutting bread today and the big bandage makes it really hard to type.

We do something similar to this at our house; we tell the best part and worst part of our day while we're all gathered together either at dinner or bedtime. My MIL started it when DH was little and she'd ask him while driving him home from school; I thought it was silly at first, but now I love hearing my girls' responses.

Smiles go to: DH for getting a new job that allows us to have Saturdays together as a family; to Mother Nature's farm in Gilbert for hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the farm; to Kelli for making me smile today.

Frowns go to: this darn virus going around that I'm fighting hard to beat before the worst starts; all the other families who went to the farm today and made it super crowded with long lines; my 5 year old for blasting her music in the next room while I'm trying to rest. (I thought we had a few more years before I'd have to yell "Turn that down!". Guess not.)

Thanks for starting this! Look forward to continuing it. A great source of journaling/keeping track for a Project 365.

Smiles: A beautiful weekend - perfect for a bonfire with s'mores with my son, dil and granddaughter and an Easter Egg hunt at the local park. We had a great Easter dinner today and I dont have to cook tomorrow because there are tons of leftovers. Decorated Easter Eggs and we're waiting for the Easetr Bunny tomorrow morning.


Frowns: I worked so hard cooking and chopping veggies, stayed up late and my dh didn't lift a finger to help me. We're going thru a rough patch-and I'm getting worn down...........
