Just curious. I feel like we are the last family on earth without. My new friend at US Cellular next door needs one more phone sale in March to get her bonus.
I am looking at plans with limited minutes because my main interest is for emergenices, especially that Kyle can reach us when we are babysitting. Yesterday my car gave me problems - actually did not turn over right away when I was going to go to Costco at lunch - so I came back in the office, called DH and told him to sit tight by his phone, and if he did not hear from me by 1:30 to come look for me in the Costco parking lot.
We've had a trac phone in the past...there is absolutely no reception in this town. I got it to work once or twice when I was driving to my folks and was running late.
I am wondering if any Cherries have an inexpensive phone for emergencies. US CEllular is the only cell phone that gets reception in this town. Friends had Verizon - he's a dentist and leaves his cell for emergencies, but his local patients could not call him on it so they had to get a US Cellular phone. Looking for and appreciate feedback - thanks Cherries!
I have a cell, but don't know how to text.
I commend you for holding out until now!
If you're playing with the idea anyway, I say go for it to help your friend. It's nice to have in case of emergencies especially while traveling. I have US Cellular & I like it because I don't pay for the calls I recieve. My text happy friend can text me, but it doesn't go against my minutes. I think most carriers are like this, but If you and your dh are on the same plan and you call each other, the call is free, too.

you can always get those pay as you go phones. dh got me one at radio shack for like 30 bucks. basically you would just buy minutes when you need them. I think the one he got me came with a hundred minutes or something. we use it as my regular cell since I lost mine and still have a plan with at&t.
I've not had anything but a cell phone for over 12 years now.
I don't have a cell phone either - we'll probably get a family plan once the kids get older but until then I'm going to try and do without
Reception is sooo important. It does no good to have one if you keep getting dropped calls and no one can reach you. We have Verizon because the coverage is best in our area. When our two teen girls got phones, we actually cancelled our land line so we are an "all-cell" family now. I love not getting sales calls. I would advise you to get the cheapest plan with the carrier that has the best coverage in your particular area.

I have one that I buy minutes for instead of having a contract with anyone. I don't use it very often and it works fine.

We have Tracfone (the actual phone is Motorola). We loaded it with 180 minutes on March 1st. We still have 175 minutes to use by August 1st. (That shows how much we use our cell phone - it's only for emergencies here.) The five minutes we have used it the phone was crystal clear (on both ends) and didn't have any problem with reception (hubby was in Columbus and called me in Cleveland).
OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
I do not have one either, but my DH does for when we are traveling or such. It is a Net 10, pay as you go type phone. Great reception no matter where we are.

DH has one and it comes in handy when we're in the car and someone is trying to reach us. I haven't had one of my own since I was forced to quit working and the company made me give it back! Neither DH nor I know how to text and with joint pain in my fingers, I'm not about to learn, either!
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
I get so frustrated with my phone / service that I think of giving it up, but I have yet to do so..

I have a Tracfone. Bought it a few years ago because I got tired of people telling me how much I needed one since I travel alone at times. My son bought me a 60 minute card for it at Christmas and I still have 9 minutes left.
I have had a cell phone for years mostly because of the traveling I would do when I was in college and prior to moving back to town closer to family. I love having a cell phone! It is so handy!

Is it bad that my dad pays for mine? Yes, I'm married...but dh gets his thru his work and it's not cheap to get one on my own so we were supposed to be paying my parents back for mine - it's about 10 a month, but never have
He says I'm getting cut off this year since now dh's farm company is actually paying me...we'll see.
