Interesting Phone Interview :)
Well... THAT was different! And I'd have to say there are definitely some advantages (and disadvantages) to conducting one.

ADVs:
1) Other person can't see your panicked expression when they ask you a question and you have NO idea how to start...
2) A brief panicked moment is possibly seen as a thoughtful pause to them.... hee hee.
3) You can PACE!!! I think I wore a path in the carpet during the 20 minutes.

Dis-ADVs:
1) Can't see THEIR expression to know if you answered appropriately.

I phone interviewed once. I couldn't believe my answers after I was done and I still got the job!

Good luck with the job, I am sure you were fine.

I interview students several times a year and I hate doing phone interviews; I really prefer to do the interview in person. I love to see the facial expressions and it is easier to put the person at ease. You would be surprised at some of the interviews. One student answered her cell phone right in the middle of the conversation and it wasn't even an emergency-needless to say she didn't get hired. The hardest part for me though is when I interview a bunch of wonderful, well-qualified applicants and can't hire all of them.

Another advantage is you could be in your sweats, having a bad hair day, etc. and they are none the wiser!!
Good luck with this job if it is what your heart desires!!

Re: Interesting Phone Interview :)
Well, I can say from the interviewers point of view (which I am), a phone interview is truly a way for us to save time and narrow our candidate pool. Yes, the big disadvantage is not seeing the facial expressions, body language, etc. However, it does pique my curiosity and a good phone screen makes me want to meet a person. Believe it or not, you can tell alot about a person through the phone.

Good luck!

I think I'd rather do an in-person interview. It's hard to offer sexual favors over the phone.

I have heard of people making a living at "phone sex" so how hard could it be? LOL!

When I first came out here to work, I had 3 -4 phone interviews. This was after a couple of in-person interviews. Good luck!!
