I am feeling like I need a change to the way I scrap. Has that ever happened to you and what did you do?
It has not been "fun" for me lately and I am working on ways to bring back da fun!! Give me some ideas peeps!!
Sometimes I feel like I do the same thing on each LO. ACOT challenges provide me with the changes that I needed. I also get some inspirations from books and magazines.

come to my house on your way to Colorado and scrap some of my pictures - that should be a good change for you. I have a spare room with a comfy bed - and big tractors and combines!

I looked at a lot of your LOs through the years to see how your style evolved and ended up reading some of your comments with your postings. It looks like you had a ball doing the Disney mini-book (which was terrific!). Maybe you could try another one. Maybe Cole building his Star Wars thingie. I don't know....I've never hit a slump because I haven't been scrapping long enough. Good luck

sometimes I just get burned out (like a few months ago). I took a month or two off with little or no scrapping. Now I'm back and finally feeling like I'm loving it again

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. When I couldn't eat paste this summer, doing digi was great, cause I had to "learn" something new. It was a wonderful experience. Then after I was back on my feet, I was able to go bi-scraptual and now I feel I don't have enough hours in the day to keep my regular job and try to get all the ideas I have in my head into projects and layouts! LOL! I seriously need to get a journal of ideas going!

I go through tons and tons of magazines until something inspires me. Sometimes, I just take a break. This month I sort of forced myself to do the challenges and then all of a sudden I was in scrap mode.
Maybe let yourself do some basic simple pages and give your creative self a break.

I've decided I'm done trying to find a style, or fit my page to a style. I don't do well with just one style. I'm Tryscraptual. I try everything. When I'm in a big funk I scraplift something that is eye catching to me. Usually it doesn't turn out like the original but I still like it
Some things that help me:
1. scraplifting as a challenge - can I recreate a lo? or just looking at a page in the gallery and thinking about what I would have changed.
2. don't use pictures. focus on a quotation, or journaling.
3. change your process. if you normally choose a set of pictures and choose elements to go with it, start with an element and build your page from there.
4. change the size you're working in - scrap to 5x7 instead of 12x12. or make a bookmark, not a 12x12 layout.
and one i am just starting - use challenges! this really helps me think about things carefully and in new ways. for example, i did the faithbooking challenge for november, and it was great process for me to re-think how i might use some elements and pictures.
hope that sparks something for you!

Doing challenges has really gotten me to broaden my horizons a bit. Also not necessarily scraplifting, but browsing through the galleries of ladies whose work I admire... either just for inspiration, or try to figure out what it is that I love about their pages (hence my new distressing kick a la Laura F.!). Get out a tool you haven't used in a long time. Look back through earlier albums and scraplift a layout of your own that you love! And think about what kind of 'feel' your photos have and try to represent that on a page... I always say that & then I forget to do it, lol! But your pages are great, you know!

This was really sweet! Thank you!!!!
Sus, I've felt like that pretty often. And I'll try a new style, work on a few techniques, even went as far as getting advice on my layouts from someone who's work I really admired. It helped! If there are cool styles that you want to try out, go for it! If you need a break, take that too (although you can't tell Pam I said to ). Maybe even try another hobby to break up the boredom for you? OR, find something fabulous to photograph, so you can't wait to scrap it!
FUN....you say???? Come back to NC and crop with "THE girls"!!! LOL I'm just sayin'!!!!
Yeah Sus! I know how you feel. I'm loving scrapbooking again.
What helps me is to look at different people layouts. I may take one idea from each one or whatever. Then I start to put my twist on things and may use there ideas to come up with something I really like. I like to look at color combos from magazines and other people's layouts.. Scraplift.
Maybe get a few new items to use to have something new to play with.. I finally bought some of those prima bling flourishes and some die cut paper etc etc.
It makes it more fun to try a few new things
I'm sure some of the cherry's will come up with somemore clever ideas!

I know this is not really feasible for you being CT and all, but man...taking that break was really really helpful for me. It's hard when you *have* to scrap - after a while it does seem to take the fun out of it.
Hope you find some mojo soon.

On a molecular level, I'm very busy.
I LOVE your word, "Tryscraptual".milmomma wrote:I've decided I'm done trying to find a style, or fit my page to a style. I don't do well with just one style. I'm Tryscraptual. I try everything. I haven't had the layout mojo for a long time, I've been doing altered items, canvas pics and covered wood projects. Since I've been doing this I've felt like I really want to do some pages with old photos of my dad with different colors than I usually use. I got a bunch of vintage looking stuff in blues and yellows, so not me but I really want to get some stuff done so I can get to working with it. I'd say- try to do an altered project, something you never thought you would be interested in.
