We just got back from vacationing there! It is such an amazing city full of so much history and such a wonderful mix of culture and diversity! I also got to meet up with 2 of my scrappy friends! Oh and the food....anyone ever had a beaver tail or poutine????

Tried beaver tail when I was a kid--my Dad was big into buckskinning (historical reinactments) so we had a lot of unusual food when we went to rendezvous on weekends...lots of venison, buffalo, and other game. If I remember, it was very fatty and greasy.

I'm pretty sure that these are the Beaver Tails that she is talking about http://www.beavertailsinc.com/ They are YUMMY! And so is poutine. Poutine originated in Quebec http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine
JulianaM are you Canadian? I haven't been to Montreal yet, we are hoping to go next year. I am not that far away!!
After looking it up, it looks much better than it sounds.CherryTat wrote:JDs Mom wrote:Tried beaver tail when I was a kid--my Dad was big into buckskinning (historical reinactments) so we had a lot of unusual food when we went to rendezvous on weekends...lots of venison, buffalo, and other game. HILARIOUS!!! Apparently those Native Americans we were camping with had the WRONG cookbook! I would much rather had this kind!

Beaver tail does not sound very good, but what the heck I'm a good sport I'll try anything once
Montreal is a fun city to visit. We lived in Upstate NY when I was in high school, so I've had both.
JD's Mom...I bet there aren't too many people who can say they've had real Beaver's tail! /

From what I understand Montreal has changed alot in the last 5-10 years! Maybe you should go there again sometime and see how it has changed. That would be really cool to see the changes I think!naney1952 wrote:Welcome Back!! It is a fun city but I haven't been there in about 40 years!:?
