Capybara are the largest living rodent in the world. Its closest relatives are agouti, chinchillas, coyphillas, and guinea pigs. Its common name, derived fromKapiÿva in the Guarani language, means "master of the grasses" while its scientific name, hydrochaeris, isGreek for "water hog".
