Ladies, I was wondering if any of you have had laminate wood flooring installed. Dh and I are looking at doing to to spruce up the house and help it sell. Most contractors want to charge over a thousand dollars to do it and that's not including the materials.
I've gone and priced the flooring and chose a place and style that I liked and was affordable. I also had a guy come out and give me exact measurements and such.
I think with some help, Dh and I could do it ourselves. He's extremely skeptical.
What do you all think? Have you seen it done? Does it seem easy enough?
Thank you!
You can do it!
I **LOVE** my laminate floor.
But don't ever use harsh cleaners on it. Vinegar and water works for the most part.

we would like to have it layed in our house, but don't have the money at this time. I know Home Depot has clinics for do-it-yourselfers, or check out Lowe's clinics on line & see what you think. I think I would have a contractor do a small section & watch him to see if I could handle it. My dh is not handy at all. Then either I would finish the job, or have the contractor do it all. anyway, good luck.
I don't have it; but knowing how quickly household repairs get done at my house I would definitely have a professional do it.

You can do it!! My dh ripped out this horrible ceramic tile in our kitchen and put in laminate flooring. He really isn't a do it yourselfer, or should I say he isn't a finisher. Apart from the molding he never replaced it looks great.

My parents re-did my kitchen and dining area before I moved in. They did a great job with it and it only took a couple days (the space isn't real large)

My husband put it in my scrap room and it only took him a weekend to do it. It is pretty easy to do.
DH and DS installed it themselves and it was beautiful! DS is not a "Mr FixIt", but DH is pretty talented in this area. DS said it was so easy he thought he probably could have done it without his dad's help tho!
Have a blessed day!
Cool! thank you, ladies! I'm going to look up some tips online and see if there's a do-it-yourself class locally!
Jake and his Dad started ours then I helped Jake finish it. It's super easy, it's just teadious to have to measure every few feet (because seriously, you have to since there is no such thing as walls that are exactly 12 feet by 12 feet, it varies by a few cm constantly).
My husband did it a few summers ago, it took him the weekend and that is tearing up the carpet. It was so very easy and it only costed us a few hundred dollars.
Here I come to save the day! Chas

I have not personally done it, but I have heard that almost anyone can do it. (Yeah, right.)

DH and I laid the bamboo hardwood flooring in our bedroom. He did the measuring, something I have no clue how to do, and the rest was a breeze. We even laid it on an angle to make the room look larger and was still easy peasy.
I have friends who have laminate flooring in their "summer home" - they have 3 little kids, it's on a lake with a sand beach and holds up really well. They did it themselves and said it's not hard at all.
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
Are you talking about something like Pergo? If so, DH installed some and I didn't hear any cussing!

DH did it and said he would do the dining room in a year or two. So, it couldn't have been much of a chore.
