When I was 10 yrs old, I got my first (and only) Barbie doll. Loved it. I played by the hour with it.

Thanks for the ideas, I have to put something for an 11 year old girl that helps me too.
Have a coke and a smile!
Just because Marley has a sad ending doesn't mean it won't be a good movie to watch. Especially if she wants to be a vet - but then, I haven't seen the movie.
Other movies might be good.

I am sure that whatever you give her she is going to LOVE! Maybe I am way off but kids just love being thought of too! You are so thoughtful and I am sure she will be spoiled rotten and much loved from you!!!
-If it's scrappy it makes me happy!
I agree with Pam - shoot her mom an email or give her a phone call to find out what she'll like.

Ok cherries, I first of all want to thank all of you for the great ideas. Here is what I ended up with. I called her mom and asked her about the Marley & Me movie. She thought that would be a wonderful idea. The ending is bitter sweet because although Marley passes on, a new puppy is brought into the family. I got her the Marley & Me movie, a little girls scrapbooking kit that has all the stuff she needs to make a scrapbook (album, papers, embelishments, glue stick, etc. (150 pieces in all). I printed off some pics for her to use in her book. I got her some little colored braclets with rings to match, a book of stickers (flowers and bugs), some hair clips, lip gloss, a bright pink shiny notebook with hearts on it, a writing pin with this cute little rabbit on top that lights up when you press down on the pin, some pastel m&m's, pretzels with white almond bark and sprinkles. My daughter is getting her a big soft stuffed bunny to sleep with. Darn it, I didn't take a pic and the basket has already been picked up by my son. I'll see if he will take the pic and email it to me. Anyway, I took a combination of your ideas and came up with a really cute basket for her. Oh and I forgot to mention, instead of the traditional basket, it was more like a big shopping bag made of pink felt with a cute little design on the outside. I'm loving this whole grandma thing! I'm going to be an amazing granny. LOL It's so nice to have a young child in our lives again. I'm truly blessed.
