Hi All!
Do you generally use a ruler to measure your layout items placement? I do 99% of the time. I want the photos to be placed perfectly (as much as possible) on the mats, my letters even or balanced if they are playfully tipped, my border strips crisp. I strive for my layouts to look like ones I might see in a magazine. Everyone seems to admire them but tease me when they say, "There she goes with her ruler again!" LOL! I guess I am a natural born picture straightener!!! If I do a shabby chic or fun page then I don't mind as much but I do take "measures" to make sure that even a casual page has been held up to my standards! I just love it. It makes me have such a nice feeling to know I have gone the extra mile. I am the only one out of 5 of us that scrap together that does it. I am a speed scrapper though, and the fastest "adheesive" square gun in my parts- Do youuse a ruler, too? I am just curious.
Thanks.
Enjoy for we will never have this day again.

I rarely use a ruler, but I will place and replace an item dozens of times before finally adhering it, especially if it is supposed to have that "haphazardly placed" look about it. LOL!
Me too! LOL!grifscap wrote: I must use a ruler.
Oh my heavens, such work. I do understand though. I use to be much the same, but now, not so much. I use my Perfect Fit rulers to cut my photo mats. If the layout I am doing needs to be exact and on spot, I use a ruler for placement. But, most of the time I just place things until I like how it looks and adhere.

Nope rarely use a ruler for placement, unless I need to leave room for something else.
Funny because I'm a perfectionist in everything else, I guess I like the look of not perfect in that department. Then again I digi scrap a lot too and there is always a ruler on my canvas.

I do not. I have thought about it. But I don't have a lot of time to scrap in the first place, and I have learned that perfection and time do not- for me- go well together.
Ha! Me, too!1LuckyMom wrote:I rarely use a ruler, but I will place and replace an item dozens of times before finally adhering it, especially if it is supposed to have that "haphazardly placed" look about it. LOL!
Nope. The only time I use a ruler is on my paper trimmer.

Very little.
I rarely use a ruler, I always eyeball everything and I do pretty well! LOL!!
Sometimes...i usually eyeball it. I just got my Tom Holtz ruler but I haven't used it yet

I very seldom use a ruler, although I did just buy the new Tim Holtz ruler.

I do it all by eye
Depends on the LO. If it needs to be perfectly straight or a 90 degree angle...then yes. But usually...no.
I use my paper trimmer to get those 90 deg angles and straight lines, but don't measure. I found that when I measure sometimes it doesn't look right to the eye, but if I eye ball it then it ends up looking nice. I used to use a ruler all the time though! If I'm trying to get a few items perfectly spaced apart, or want two photos trimmed to the same size, etc, then I will pull it out.
I too will move and adjust the photos/embelishments on the layout a lot before I'm done! I'm so indecisive and a perfectionist (just don't bother with the ruler anymore, as long as it looks perfect).

Use a ruler??? We're ALLOWED to use a ruler?!!!!!
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
I do sometimes, usually for letters and such. Pictures I like to angle and am not as concerned with them being real straight!
