 Hello, I am a wife and the mother of 2 boys, an 18 year old freshman in college and a 16 year old high school sophmore. I am fortunatly able to work from home as a bookkeeper for my husbands sub shop. I had attempted scrapebooking about 8 years ago and loved it but then life in general just interuptted my new hobby. Now as I look at a closet full of pictures and a few supplies I would love to start again but I need lots of help. First question I have is, how do you organize and store pictures? I have some in old albums that are falling apart and many other pictures in the large envelops from the drug store. Do photo boxes work well. I want to get them out or the albums because I know they are not archivial safe. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day.

I keep my photos in a photo box, but usually they don't stay there long... they end up on a layout! I'm sure ladies here will have lots of good suggestions for you!

I have no real way to organize my photos. Thank goodness for digital photos. I usually keep my on my external hard drive, then when someone is having a great sale on prints, then I send them off. But I have the usual boxes to store mine in too.

 Welcome!!! I also have two boys 16 & 18. The 18 year old will graduate this may, does it get any easier to let go? I seem to be struggling with that. As for photo organization, I store mine in photo boxes, each boy has their own box, 1 family and 1 christmas. They are in chronological order in the boxes.

 Hi and welcome.  Most of my new photos are digital and the older ones are already in albums, so I don't have a whole lot laying around.  But if you want to talk about organizing stickers and papers, that's another story.  They're a real mess.

I am a little bit disorganized but I do have my photos in photoboxes and most are organized either by my two sons (29 and 24), Christmas, camping and vacations.

I use photo boxes too!  They are SO cute, cheap, and easy to find!  When you buy them, they usually come with these cards inside so you can write on them and organize your pictures by category.....I started out that way but havent really kept up with it!  It really makes it so much easier to find what you are looking for!!  It's all about what works for you!  Good luck!  And welcome to ACOT!

I think photo boxes are a great idea. I have a lot of my photos before I went to digital in boxes.

 Welcome Geri!  So glad you are able to now get back into scrapbooking.  In answer to you question, I have old photos in shoe boxes, photo boxes and just plain old boxes.  Unfornuately, there is no organization here for the old pics. LOL After digital cameras came out, I started storing them on my puter and uploading to Wallgreens to make prints of the pics I'm ready to use.  My kids (1 son & 1 daughter) are grown and have moved away from home.  I still work full time, but enjoy my scrapbooking on the weekends when time allows.  Wishing you luck.

I'm imagining that you have tons of photos to organize, so I will say that Stacy Julian's Photo Freedom book has helped me alot with my photo organization! I use parts of it, and am still in the process of getting all of it done, but at least I have a direction to take. I was completely lost before I read it! You can get it at CK Media or Amazon.com I think.

 Welcome to the board. I keep my photos waiting to be scrapped in photo boxes, but I also keep photo albums of favorite photos and also of the photos I take that I don't scrap.

 I like my cropper hopper photo box......it's pretty big and has all these dividers, etc.  I use it 'cuz it does take me a while to be able to scrap some of my pics.
