we have 2 girls-- and yes we got the same thing. Especially since for the first 8 months of the pregnancy we thought the 2nd was going to be a boy--- even had her named Timmy after my dh's cousin-- it became Kimmy. Everyone kept coming up to me telling me how sad they were that she was a girl-- knowing I would not be having anymore children. There were days I let it get to me-- then I realized it didnt matter. I was happy to have 2 smiling, happy , healthy children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do I need a boy?????? There are still days when they are both fighting over nail polish or some girly thing that I may let a little thought of- why wasnt she a boy slip into my brain---- then I remember how much I love her and what a wonderful child she is and how happy she makes me --and how I wouldnt want it any other way!!!!
You are very lucky to be having 2 boys-- just think of what a wonderful relationship they will have with each other--and dh-- get some sleep and remember it is your family and you know how happy you are and SCREW all those other people. Congrats again!!!!!!!!!!!
That's really sad. You have enough to worry about and this shouldn't be on your mind.
Maybe when people say that you could simply say..."We're not concerned with the sex. We just want him to be happy and healthy." (((Big Hugs)))
We get that but in a different way..."Alex needs a little brother or sister." "When are you going to have another one?" "Don't you want your kids to be close in age?" I don't mind my friends asking but when it's people we only see or speak to once a year it gets awkward. Can you tell I am already dreading the Christmas parties? LOL
Anyway, I'm really sorry to have hijacked your thread.

I have two boys and DH and I love it. They are each others bestfriends. I wouldn't change my boys for the world. I am the queen of the house with 3 guys protecting me all the time. I am 40, and people do ask me if I am trying for the girl. My response is "No, I am waiting for granddaughters"

People can be so insensitive!
I had two boys before I had Jasmine and you know what? I absolutely LOVE having those two in a row! They are such good little buddies and they share a room and their toys and are each others best friends!
My mom had 5 boys in a row before she had me, then two more boys. When she had the other two boys after me they would comment to her on only getting a girl once- like she had failed in making more girls or something. Idiots!

If anyone bad mouths the fact that you are having a second child of the same sex just look them in the eye and say you are happy that you have been able to carry this child through the whole pregancy and you are thrilled the child is doing well.
And if you want, get their phone number for me and I'll call them and tell them to shut up.
I'm thrilled that your child is growing strong.

I have two girls and the question was always "Are you going to try again for a boy?" ummmmmm. WHY? We could not feel more blessed with the two beautiful children we have. People are stupid. Just give them a slightly manic look and say "Actually, I was planning to dress this boy all in pink to satisfy some deep longing for balance in the sex of my children"

I firmly believe people should just not talk to pregnant women - they always say the wrong thing! When I was pregnant with DS, I got a lot of negative comments about one of the names we'd picked. That about put me over the edge!!
I think having two boys is wonderful! If DH and I had wanted any more kids, I definitely would've been happy to have another boy. And no matter how many children you have, each one is a special miracle. You just remember that, and tell those other people to leave you alone!

I agree with Cassandra...some people really should just keep their mouth shut. I have 3 girls. I didn't find out with any of them before hand, so we didn't really KNOW they were girls till they were born. But I got the same comments with the 2nd and especially with the 3rd. And I got pg with my 3rd when my 2nd was only 8 months old...so I also got all the "don't you know how that happens"?? ARGH! SHUT UP. I hate hearing that. It's so stupid. And it just grated because I was already trying to adjust to have 2 so close together...it was a tad unplanned. On top of that, after Morgan was born...I got to endure the same people constantly asking if I was pg again.
Ok...stepping off my soapbox now...
(((HUGS))) I am sorry you are getting these comments too. I was like you...didn't care if I had all girls or a mixture. I still think it would have been fun to have a boy...but I wouldn't give back a single one of my girls in trade, so I guess I was meant to be a girl mom. That's just the way it is and I'm happy. All those people can just bite me. LOL.

IF I had a 2nd child, I would be thrilled either way!! I think 2 boys is AWESOME! Just think how close they will be as brothers. I think ANY child is a blessing, boy or girl!
I used to be a "celebrity cherry", but now I'm in re-hab...... Holy Carp!
I agree. I have 2beachlover wrote: SWEETIE, YOU NEED SLEEEP! (sorry, at work and had the darn caps lock thing going again ) But, you are worrying yourself way too much about the little things! People always have things to say about everything, so don't concern yourself! Here is what you need to be concentrating on: A: You have a wonderful hibby; B: you have a handsome, heathy cute little guy already, and C: you are getting another heathy little guy who will undoubtedly be just as gorgeous as big brother Eli. And Eli will be thrilled to be a big brither!
People always have to make comments, sometimes they open their mouths and nonsense comes out, don't oncern yoiurself! Once this little guy settles into your lives then you guys can decide if and when you decide to try for another. But, that is a family matter
{{{{{hugs}}}} and get some rest!!!!

Actually, you know what would be really funny? Is saying you are going to let him choose which gender he was supposed to be, in case there is some gender confusion. hehe
:-DThen MIL would KNOW I've lost my marbles!!!

We have 2 girls & they are so great together most of the time, that I could not be happier. We are done having kids but I still have friends & others that ask me if I'm going to try for a boy. Why?
who cares as long as the little one is healthy!!!!!!
I say woot woot for two boys. They can share toy, clothes, friends etc. I am soooooo excited for you. "ALMOST" makes me want another one.

Well I only have one DS - but when we were talking about the possiblity of #2 I wanted another boy ... I actually would love three boys ... I am sure your house will be full of fun with the two boys!
I have 2 boys. Asking questions or coming up with comments like that are just plain rude, rude, rude! If I was pg, and in a good mood, I'd stare at the person for a few seconds and say, "And why is this your business?" in a calm tone of voice. If I was as crazy with hormones, as I usually was, I'd say something like, "Are you always as rude as this? Get the hell away from me!" in a nasty, crabby voice. I'm not very nice when people are rude.
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
I have two boys (age 19 and 17) and two girls (age 10 and 7)
They are all totally different although my two older of the gender have the same "attitudes".
Oh and Don't listen to the "clothes" thing either...the seasons never matched because their birthdays and sizes never co-existed anyway...very few items were able to be "shared".
My words of wisdom...Boys NEVER stop moving and Girls NEVER stop talking!!!

I would NEVER say something like that another person to hurt their feeling regardless of what you think. I stated that most girls while growing up say "I want two kids, a boy and a girl". I know I used to. Like I stated it was just another way to look at it rather then the negative way.ICanHasCherryOnTop wrote:jjenni08 wrote: Look at it from the maybe their point of view. Most people say they would like a boy and a girl. Not all but most. So maybe they are looking at it as a sympathy thing for you. Maybe they are just assuming that you too would have wanted one of each and now that your not they are trying to make you feel better. Look at it that way instead of the negative. Not everyone says things like that to be mean or rude. I have said things like that before to people and it definately wasn't to be rude. I very stupidly assumed they wanted one of each I suppose.
Sorry to disagree, but whether you meant to or not--that's just downright rude. Pregnant mom's have enough on their minds worrying that the pregnancy will have no complications and that their baby will be heathly. They don't need people chiming in about what sex they think is better or more wanted. NO mom is going to love her child any less because of it's gender.
I dont think these statements ---> "A girl would've been nice, but a boy is fun, too!" and "I heard about
the boy. Although I guess it doesn't really matter, does it? At least
you already have clothes." <--- mean anyone meant any harm. They just didin't think before they said them. Just like we all do. No one is underestimating the complications and worries that come along with being pregnant. I may not have ever been pregnant but I have two niece and teo nephews and I was with their mothers through all of their pregnancies and I understand what they all went through. Especially my sister in law who doesn't carry babies well. Nor do I think these statements were said to imply that she would not love the baby less because it is another boy.
Some people would consider this rude. I don't. I would just consider it someone like me and everyone else, opening their mouths before they spoke and accidentally saying something that maybe shouldn't have been.
Maybe another way to tell people what your having instead of just say "It's a boy" is "Another little boy which we are excited about!" Then they will know that its okay with you too.

I have two boys and couldn't be happier with them. They are a lot of fun and there is always something crazy going on. I wasn't disappointed when I found out my second was a boy, I was just so thankful to have him. We didn't think we could have any more so I was just thrilled. My oldest was 6 when his brother was born. I almost lost my little one at 14 1/2 weeks when I started leaking amneotic (spelling?)fluid but that problem got resolved. Then at 24 weeks I went into labor. I spent the next three months in a hospital one hour away trying to keep from having him. I was so blessed to have my parents to take care of my older one because that's about the time hubby said "see ya". Long story short, he was born at 35 weeks and he is ok and I feel so blessed to have him. I named him Matthew because that means "gift from God" and that's exactly what he is.
My MIL really gave me a lot of grief when we found out he was a boy because she kept saying "don't you want a girl" and "what if it is really a girl and they didn't look close enough." (she likes to make problems can you tell?) My SIL who was pregnant at the same time found out she was having a girl (she had two boys from her previous marriage). MIL kept making that into such a big deal. I was still thrilled at having another boy! I was always such a tomboy and wouldn't have known what to do with a girl!
Long story short, two boys are fantastic! Don't let other people's comments get to you. Sometimes they just don't think about what they are saying. You are very blessed and good luck you. Hang in there.
