We will learn how to create a basic digital layout using the photo editing software "GIMP" and free digital products.

What is GIMP?  GIMP is a powerful image manipulation program that is completely free.  That's right - FREE!  So you don't have to spend a dime to do digital scrapbooking.  Another great aspect of GIMP is that, like Photoshop, the developers are continually improving and adding features and filters.  Unlike Photoshop, you don't have to pay to get an updated version.  You are getting the latest and greatest!

For this class you are welcome to simply read along OR you can give it a try with me.

Here are the supplies you will need:

• GIMP - go to GIMP's website (http://www.gimp.org) and press the large, orange download button displayed in the top picture.  Follow the instructions from there.  (If you have problems with GIMP's main page link then please try the following:  If you are a PC User click here - then select the "Installer".  If you are a MAC User click here - then select "GIMP on OS X".)
• My Scalloped Circle Clipping Mask (Not as pretty as Rowena's, but it should work.  One of these files is a .jpg which can be used on any program and one is a .xcf  (GIMP only) file.)
• Kim Hill's Buggie Afternoon Sampler
• Julie Mead's Count on Me Freebie
• Rowena Field's Aqua Alpha Freebie

 I was going to do this because I need to learn how to do clipping masks, but when I tried to put the masks in my basket it still shows $2 - which to me is a super price anyway - but the store says 0.00 dollars and the basket says 2.00

What should I do and which is correct - am I the only one that is having this problem?

 The same thing happened for me too.  And GIMP seems to be having problems so the free download isn't working.    Oh, well, as long as I get it ready for the weekend, I'll be happy.

 I would love to learn more about this.  I've downloaded some freebies and luckily have PSE, so I would love to learn to play. The clipping mask didn't work for me, either, though.

 Not sure what is going on with the clipping mask download - sorry!!!!  So instead I created a clipping mask of my own - not as pretty as Rowena's, but it should work.  Here is my link.  One of these files is a .jpg which can be used on any program and one is a .xcf  (GIMP only) file.

Is it possible you have already downloaded this before?  You might be able to go to "My Downloads" and select "Show Expired Downloads".  You can only reactivate a download once after which it will remain in your download list for 30 days.

Is anyone else having this problem with Julie Mead's kit?

 I did have a problem downloading one of the kits.  But I can't remember which one.  It just cycled & cycled all night and never downloaded.  The others and GIMP were fine though.

I'll let you know if it was the Count on Me one or the Alpha one...I know it was one of those 2.
