Hey there dog-loving scrappy fans currently living in Michigan! Our New Guinea Singing Dog Conservation Society just rescued 18 New Guinea Singers from John Jones Oakwold Kennel in Hickory Corners but there are still 50+ JRTs desperately needing a home! *See link above for the WOODTV8 article*
Our Society has tried contacting numerous JRT rescue groups from NY across to the midwest but financial times as they are... most of them are strapped too. And the ones who haven't responded to our requests may not do so before it's too late. Last year, the county came and 85 of his dogs were euthanized because he had too many. While he knows he's in over his head and also has some health issues, he's desperate not to allow the current Jack Russells follow the same fate.
So... if you know ANYONE who would like to adopt a JRT, please, PLEASE have them call 269-671-5348 for more information!! And feel free to post this message on other blogs, sites and message boards!! Thanks gals! :inlove:

Me too.... Two of the guys who went down to pick up the NGSDs, also grabbed a few JRTs in the process. They said when they looked into the tiny adorable faces, they couldn't resist. They wished they could have taken more and leaving the rest behind, broke their hearts.Flapdoodle wrote: OMGGGGGG. :( I wish I could take them ALL!!!!!! :(

Anyone who knows me, knows that I ADORE JRT's.
I sent that web addy on to my mom (she's in Mich) and another friend who's a JRT lover, although she lives in TX.
My mom also writes a newsletter for her community which has alot of retirees living in it.
I'm passing it on to anyone who I think might be able to help or know someone who might....

Thanks Chica!! I've been calling different dog rescue agencies in different states to see if they'd be willing to help but apparently they've already heard about the crisis... The Jack Russell Terrier Club of America has revoked their membership license and the Pennsylvania-based Russell Rescue, Inc organization was involved last year. To me, this says; "We're not going to get involved.... the Jones's were reprimanded and counseled in the past. Whatever happens now... they're on their own." It's really a sad state of affairs and unfortunately, the JRTs will be the ones to suffer. Thanks again for all your help in getting this broadcasted!Flapdoodle wrote: I sent it on to my sister, also. She's out there in Seattle but volounteers for P.A.W.S.

I wish we could take one. I wish him and all those dogs much luck!
CHEERS~~
Unforunatley JRT's are the worst for finding homes for. We have numerous ones at our shelters to and they are so hyper active and attention getters that no one can handle them. I hate when organizations are so unresponsible and continue to get more and more animals and not understand the problems it can cause. But the people can be charged and told to stop, but the animals always suffer. I feel for all those little dogs, b/c they are some of the cutest and most loving animals.. but most of them will go out in homes and brought back to their jealous nautre. I pray all of them find loving homes.
~ Carissa ~
JRT's aren't all crazy. Just like all pit bulls are not bad. It all depends on the owner.
People need to research dogs before they get them, most importantly. Not every breed is for everyone.
