This is my example layout. On this layout, I created the ribbons tabs by photographing them and extracting them using the same techniques described in Kristi's class (except I didn't go on to make this a brush). Once it was extracted, I saved it as a png file. Now they're ready to use on any layout I want in the future.

You're only limited by your own imagination here ladies. Here are some other elements I've created myself.
On this layout (which is one of my all times faves) The black frame, the shelf and the pocket watch were all extracted and saved as png's for future use. For the frame, I inserted a blank piece of white paper into the frame to make the extraction process easier and then shot it right on the wall.
