Oh, hun....I'm so sorry.  From someone who moved a lot as a kid, I know what it's like.  Try to stay chipper and think of the pieces of history you'll be able to introduce your family to.

Welllll you know how the military is, nothing is assured. Yesterday George got orders for him to attend a school in DC. We will be moving in the summer. Less than two years after we moved here.

This is not want we wanted, at all. Cole LOVES it here. and we were really trying to make sure we did not move him around alot. But it is what it is.

So if I seem down or preoccupied, just bare with me...k?
I wasn't a 'military brat' growing up, I was 'retail brat'. My dad was transferred almost every 2-3 years. We moved back and forth across NY state like a tennis ball in a Wimbelton match. That's how I got to be here (FL) ya know. Transferred.

We always hated moving and having to make new friends, but we always did find new friends and adjusted fine. Cole will be ok. ;)

((((hugs)))) sweetie.
I was a "university brat".....with  my dad changing jobs/getting a higher level job every year or 2.  Until I was 11, the longest I ever lived anywhere was 2-1/2 years!  Between birth and 11, I lived in Mississippi, New York, Virginia (twice), Missouri, Florida (twice), and Washington state.  Then we landed in New Orleans.  I went to 6 different grammar schools (7 if you count nursery school/pre-K).

I didn't like leaving friends and having to make new ones...but my "best" friend is one I met in Florida in 2nd grade, and I'm still in touch with friends I had in Washington.

So, moving my kids all over the globe the past several years wasn't a big deal for me.

It's not easy, but he will be just fine!  And DC is a WONDERFUL place!

I'm going to pretend I'm sad, and I am, in a way. For Cole to have to move so soon is kind of sucky. But I'm kinda smiling on one side of my face.......DC is less than 1 hr away from me. :winkb:

But for you (((((((((((((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm sorry that you're upset about this move, and I know moving is difficult.  Have faith that it will work out, your little guy will see new places and make new friends, and you'll help him make the best of it.  There are so many great things to do and see in the DC area.  ((Hugs))

It sure sucks to move! I know how it feels, since I'm an Army Brat/Vet/Wife...
On the plus side, DC has a lot to offer! There are the Smithsonians, the Tidal Basin (always fun to walk around and look at the memorials, and you MUST walk around it during Cherry Blossom season!), there's a TON of different kinds of foods (it's so multicutural there... foods from Indian and Middle Eastern to Far Eastern and German and Italian and Irish...and etc!!!)
There are always free things going on, there's the NAtional Zoo, festivals and all sorts of fun things. It's an amazing place for children to learn things!
Yeah, there are down sides to DC, but there is that everywhere. I was there for 5 years (the longest I've ever lived in one place) and I actually miss the area.

Re: My news............
{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} to you!  I personally believe it is hardest on the Momma of all... Dad goes to work, it is what he does he works for the military and moving around is part of it.  The kids are very resilient, most of them make life long friends.  My husband was a "military brat" and meets people very easily, is outgoing and works with the military (his company here is a government contractor) on a daily basis and has gone far with his company which is attributed to the millitary influenece in his upbringing.  But from the stand point of someone who was born in Dallas and moved to Greenville at the age of 1 and lived here my whole life ... I AM SO JEALOUS of the people in the military.  I would love to have seen other parts of the USA (and not on a week or 2 of vacation either) and even other parts of the world.  I will say we lived in England for 5 years for my husband's job (and I thought I was hot S*&^ getting to move out of Greenville for a little while.  I just thought I would give you the perspective of someone that can count on one hand how many times she has moved in my 52 years... now back to you.  I really feel sorry for you because you are the one who has to try to make everyone's life seem so normal and keep going ... I wish you luck in your new place and does sound like you may already have made several friends you can meet up with at some point just through ACOT.  Does the military still come in pack you guys up or is that something you will have to do?  I feel for you on that ... I hate packing...
