 {{HUGS}}

The military and their families are always in my good thoughts. I use to be a military wife so it all hits close to home for me. It's amazing how many people take for granted what our military folks actually do for our country and for us.

Re: I need to ask for something.
Thanks for the reminder, Pam.  I pray for those who serve our country and those that support and love them.  A very good friend of mine is in the Navy, and I worry about her when she goes overseas.

Thank you to everyone who is serving/ has served our country!

Re: I need to ask for something.
I'll be glad when our 30 years is up. :inlove: I was just thinking about this the other day.  I went into the YMCA to see if they do anything for military, as most of them do.  She said because we were active duty and we were "use to the lifestyle" they only help those that go from the reserves to active duty.  After some choice words to her, we walked out.  I new that MICRIC(Marine Corps Recruiting Command) was working on a joint venture anyways, and I can't wait to go back in there to join for free :-D  Just because I choose this life, it definitley doesn't make it any easier on my boys or us as a family.  I wouldn't change this lifestyle for anything though.  I'm just glad we're non-deployable.

Ok, off my soap box.  But yes prayers all around tonight  :-D

Re: I need to ask for something.
(My first post!)
Reading this thread made me get all choked up. I'm an Army Brat, and Army Vet (Desert Storm) and an Army Wife! My whole life has been connected w./ the Army. I am SO happy that my DH isn't going anywhere. We met in Desert Storm when we stationed in the same Battalion. DH just his 20 and we have just a couple more years here and then he's out.
I feel so much for those whose families have been pulled apart by all this world strife.
Today I went to my older DSs 4th grade class. I led a little "workshop" and the kids all made cards for the Troops overseas. I hope they like them. (My stamps may never recover though...LOL!)

My thoughts and prayers for all the other military families out there.
People say I have a short atten---ohhh, sparklies!

You have them and will be included in the next prayer group gathering at school.  Thank you for the gentle reminder.

I forgot that this was still on my camera, and thought I'd share! 3 Doors Down put this message up after playing "Citizen Soldier" (which is a wonderful song!!)

Thank you for posting this Pam.  I feel so blessed to live in this country and even more blessed that there are men and women willing to defend it.  I know they and there families give up so much in order to protect freedoms.  I thank them for it.

Re: I need to ask for something.
 You betcha Pam!

Here is Ontario Canada we have a "highway of heroes". When a soldier dies in Afghanistan (or elsewhere) their casket will be driven down this highway on the way to the autopsy (I believe). People, hundreds of people come out and stand on the over passes with flags and signs thanking our soldiers. It brings tears to my eyes everytime.

THANK YOU to every soldier and every soldiers family.

Here is a pic of our highway of heroes

Re: I need to ask for something.
My newphew just graduated from Army basic (is that what it's called)  last week.  I am grateful that I was able to go not only because I have helped raise him since he was born (my sister was barely 16) but because it was THE MOST moving experience I have ever had in my life.  It beat my confirmation, my graduation and my wedding....They way they all act as one, the speeches everything.  They showed a DVD of what they had been doing for the past 10 weeks and I couldn't believe it and I am 100% positive that I could not have done it.

Even though they say he won't be deployed, (I'm not sure how that works or how they can say that) I worry but I am so proud of him...of all of them.   The town was also so awesome if they found out you were their for a graduation.

Every time we ran into another soldier through the day, they stopped and introduced all of us to their families.

There was a woman passing out ribbon angels at the breakfast in the hotel in the morning.  All different ribbons and styles and she didn't even want anything in return. I lost it when she said "and the yellow ribbon is so your soldier comes home safe" - had to walk away.

I think it's the little touches like this that they need - and to know we all support them and love them and think about them all the time.

In his first letter home he said "mom, we got our uniforms today and I can't tell you what a feeling it was to put it on, I don't ever want to take it off"

God bless all of them every where every day

I've been following sweet Steph's blog for a while in just utter shock.  I mean...I knew, but I didn't.  kwim?  It is such a dose of reality.  Steph, her family, and the Viper Co. have been in our prayers.

Thanks so much for posting this Pam.
