What's it all MEAN-Joe Six packs Version!
I did not find the presidential debate boring.  Here's what I heard, understanding I am Republican. If many of you are using these posts to get your info, at least get a little down to earth explainations.

McCain-He will propose the feds use $300 billion to bail out the home owners, bring it to those in need rather than filtering the money down through the banks.  He will allow us to choose our own health care and give us cash/voucher to use towards health care and open up the opportunity to shop around from state to state. Shopping around creates competative pricing. He will not force anyone to have health care, but certainly wants to give them more options. He will not raise taxes, but keep them as is or lower during these tough economic times. That is his promise to all classes. He will continue keeping our troops in Afganistan, because they need our knowledge & peace keeping support to keep the Talaban in Pakastan.  Afganistan is not able to sustain against an invasion in their current state.  McCain also explained that talking and "wheeling and dealing" does not always work in those cultures of violence.  If idle threats are made, it can be dangerous because we will be challenged and will be expected to act.  All negotiations have to be seriously backed or our power is lost.  He is not against negotiating, just believes if a line is draw it must be done strategically and action should be swift.  He also believes helping the innocent in Darfor or Rwanda is critical, but should not be a US mission, but instead a global mission.  The US cannot go racing to save everyone.  As for Globalwarming and the energy crisis.  Drill baby Drill.  He wants to bring it home and build a dependency in ourselves, not in others.

Obama-He wants to create laws to ensure the wealthy do not get richer off of other peoples money.  He blames the rich and appologizes to the middle class for having to suffer for their mistakes.  He believes in regulation including our Health care.  He intends to tax businesses who do not provide health care or the appropriate amount of health care.  Taxes will be used to fund health care for all  low income children.  It will be a "requirement" to provide your child with health care insurance, if you are in the middle class and do not qualify, you could be fined for not having your child protected. Obama intends to raise the taxes of the rich so the middle and lower class can have a tax break.  The middle class get approximately the same break with Obama as they do with McCain, but the lower income will get a bigger chunk.  Unfortunately, the small business owner will suffer and could end up passing along the difference in the products/services we buy, especially if they also must pay for employee health care. As for the foriegn relations.  Obama wants to pull out of Afganistan, but in turn wants to invade Pakistan, Darfor, etc. etc.  But of course, only after he sits down and talks with the head honchos and tells them to do as he says or "suffer the consequences".   Lastly, Global warming.  He pretty much so agrees with McCain, but gave no specifics how to decrease our energy dependancy.

Again, this it the view point of a Republican.  I am sure the other side has a bit different view point.

I am a republican as well  so I agree with most of your analysis. With the exception of Obama wanting to pull out of Afghanistan. I understood his comments to mean that he wants to beef up troops in Afghanistan and if Pakistan is unwilling or unable to stop the spread of al-queda into Pakistan he would go into Pakistan as well. I could be wrong on that but that was the impression I got.

I did find the 2nd debate very boring but it was because most of the questions asked were basically the same old thing that both candidates have talked about over & over. I would have liked to see better & more specific questions.

If any of you missed the debate or need clarification on any of the questions asked, here's a link to the actual transcript. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/07/ ... ranscript/
