The media is really slamming Palin with irrelavant questions that seem to catch her off guard. As a result she looks like a ditz who cannot articulate or has very little knowledge. My question is.....Could this be to her advantage? Especially if she is playing dumb, only to debate on Thursday night. Ya know, set the bar low so you look good under pressure when it comes down to the real game.

My question about Palin has nothing to do with politics. I am wondering if that is how Alaskans really talk. I admit I only watched Northern Exposure once or twice (and I never watched Men In Trees), but I don't remember any characters sounding like her. She sounds more like she should be in the movie Fargo. I have met somebody from Sask. who sounded like her.
Um, I don't know. But her voice reminds me of the mom on "Bobby's World". Does anyone remember that show. Bobby's voice was done by Howie Mandell.

You hit the nail on the head. I think this is exactly whats happening. It also pains me to see the media acting this way I think we have reached an ultimate low. Now to top it all off, apparently the moderator for the debate tomorrow night just got a multi-million dollar book deal..........promoting Barack Obama. Sounds somewhat fishy to me!

OMG! I loved Bobby's World.
Well ya know now.....

Rosa sat so that Martin could walk. Martin walked so that Barack could run. Barack ran so that our children could fly.
I didn't see it but Bud said that Katie Curic (CBS news) has really been hitting Gov. Palin really hard in the interviews.
I can't believe that Gov Palin got to where she is without savy.
I did hear the bit where she was asked about the morning after pill and only heard that she was saying that this was her opinion - NOT a McCain/Palin stance on the issue. Apparently she is learnign that there are traps in some interviews?

Yes, I tend to believe her hesitance or "talking in circles" is because she is trying to avoid the media traps. I've been in that situation with my career. When you know whatever you say will be twisted, it is best to say nothing. The pressures are enormous when you are on the spotlight. Not only are you dodging the media and public, but you also have to worry if your superiors will find fault in what you say or don't say.

I won't give my opinon one way or another on the Palin issue but can I just say that I cannot stand Katie Couric. She thinks she's such a grand journalist for "trapping" Palin, or any other candidate for that matter, but every time she sees AK on the teleprompter she she says ARKANSAS. That would be EVERY time. Grrrrrr....
I don't think that a good interviewer would be out to 'trap' anyone. Ask questions - yes. Deep, probing questions? Most definitely - but don't look to trip them up so you can get that sound byte.
Ask questions that the public would like to ask the candidates.
If an interviewer is good and the subject is not answering the question that is asked the good interviewer will ask the question with other wording.
Don't goad them just because you can.
And keep in mind - those interviews can be edited to be biased - to show the subject in a good light (in that s/he answers quickly and brightly) or not good (The subject stumbles a bit because they could possibly be tired and need time to think)

Apparently no one saw Obama's interview with Bill O'Reilly. That's just what media do...ask hard questions to see how candidates can stand on their feet. Nothing fishy.

she is a ditz in my opinion. I only pray that if McCain gets in that nothing happens to him, cuz we would be in aworld of hurt with her as president!

Neither. She's a "Post Turtle"...
As written on another forum:
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid.
The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a 'Post Turtle'."
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'Post Turtle' was.
The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'Post Turtle'."
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she don't belong up there, she don't know what to do while she's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with."
